Wow! That is a difficult contest to win! So many challengers.

Never understood why this creep is so famous. Then I read about the Oricon poll, glad I wasn't the only one.

Japan's most irritating comedian? Does the Ishihara/Hashimoto comedy duo qualify?

Japanese "comedy" has to be the most piss-poor attempt at humor I've ever witnessed.

I'm guessing the 'talento' who takes off AKB will win this award next year. The only country in the world where someone can stay in the spotlight for so long for being so stupid. Im always surprised at why so many people laugh their heads off at egashira's antics of jumping into people with his ar5e thrusted out.....yeah when i was 4 I would have found that funny too.

What I can't stand the most is all of the of the one hit wonders. They have just one routine, and . . . they repeat it over and over and OVER and OVER again until people are just thoroughly SICK and TIRED of them.

Dandy Sakano is a great example of this.

Egashira 2:50 is annoying and creepy, but he is far from the worst (as far as material) comedian in Japan. Like Hayashi said at least he does not do the same thing all the time.

The number 2:50 as is written here does not do the name justice and should be spelled out as "Egashira Niji Gojippun." I think Egashira may have taken his inspiration from an author who went by the name Naoki 35 (Sanjuugo) (1891-1934). Naoki, for whom the Naoki literary prize was named, tried to attract attention by changing his name incrementally with each birthday. He went from Naoki 32 to Naoki 33, etc., and finally got bored with the idea when he reached 35.

comedy is an art, where timing, gestures moved of the moments and moved of the audience every thing should be performed in perfection, if anything is messing then the comedian become a joke himself.

But here the timing and the gestures ???? you cannot get convince, they are really struggling all the time

If I were to guess, I'd say they couldn't find any witnesses who saw anything of substance between his legs. Maybe if they had a magnifying glass handy, charges would have been filed. :-)

I do know the concept behind basic Japanese comedy, and that's why I find some of (not all of it) boring. What I can't stand the most is all of the of the one hit wonders. They have just one routine, and like a politician's stump speech, they repeat it over and over and OVER and OVER again until people are just thoroughly SICK and TIRED of them. And since they aren't really that funny to begin with, they aren't able to come up with any new material, and ultimately get kicked completely out of the entertainment industry..or at least until some nostalgic producer decides to bring them back to have another run using the same run down routine.

Personally aside from Egashira's lewdness, I don't find him to be so bad. At least he doesn't have a formulated routine and doesn't repeat the same stuff over and over again. He gets laughs from being disgusting and it sort of works.

Most Japanese people are disgusted by Egashira and he is not what Japanese comedy is about. Most posters here would probably not understand "tendon" or "nori-tsukkomi" if they heard it. You want real Japanese comedy, watch "suberanai hanashi."

I remember seeing this guy (I think it was him) on TV when he was in Turkey. As soon as he dropped his pants, the men went beserk and started chasing him. Can't remember whether he got a real beating.

Most Japanese comedians are lewd and annoying...don't see why Egashira was singled out....he does that ALL THE TIME, even on TV

I didn't know who this was and when I read voted "most annoying" he came to mind. Google was my friend. Why was he not arrested for this? Not "may be charged", charge him. What he did was out of line and if a boss or coworker did this, they'd be fired and charged with sexual assault. Well, at least in a decent country that is.
