The TV in Japan is so awful, I'm really glad we have Netflix. The only problem is, I'm now running out of things to watch and wish Netflix in Japan had more international shows. Best of all would be if the BBC could hurry up and make a global BBC TV streaming service, but I don't suppose that will happen any time soon.

Hopefully we'll soon see new releases which have slowed since the Covid-19.

The other problem is Amazon Japan and Hulu just not have enough content or even update their content. This is very frustrating. But I have a VPN an I can access the US Netflix so that helps a lot.

Yes, Japanese TV is completely mindless drivel, from what I see being broadcast on prime time in the evenings.

Good to see young people having the good taste to seek out more well-made, stimulating product on the likes of Netflix.

My TV is basically just a monitor for games consoles. I haven't watched live TV in years (because Japanese TV is just awful). I mostly watch Netflix, and occasionally an exclusive show on Amazon Prime, because for whatever reason it keeps giving me free trials. Prime's UI is terrible though, and doesn't encourage me to give them money.

Same here.

You really can't go wrong with Netflix and Hulu.

I did the Disney Plus trial, but immediately unsubscribed. Unless you have children and are a Disney/Marvel/Star Wars Fan, I don't think it is an option for casual viewers. With more original content, I think I will give it another try.

agree 100%

One streaming service that I WISH would come to Japan is Shudder. Its streams horror flicks only of which I am a big fan..

You'd think they would do it, seeing that it could be a huge cash cow. But no, they continue paying big bucks to a select number of their stars, and in the meanwhile, most over-75s with a TV in UK will have to start paying for a TV licence now.

if only there was something worth watching.

Britbox is great but is not available in Japan. Should be.

We have Britbox in the States. Maybe someone will pick it up for distribution in Japan. That being said, a lot Amazon Prime and Netflix original material is produced in the UK.
