Sad. Never watched the show and don't plan to, but 31 is far too young to die. Seems he either did too much damage with his previous addictions or he fell off the wagon again after too many 'second' chances. Nasty business, those substances (whatever they were).

Not going to lie I'm really shocked and devastated by this. Been a massive fan of Glee since the first season and Cory was amazing in the show.

RIP, sad to hear about this and tired of so much talent and young lives being taken by addition.

what a waste of life, he was doing great and was one of the strongest actors in Glee.

Poor lad, it's a terrible shame.

Monteith's star was fading on "Glee". (Spoiler Alert) His character was all but written out of the show mid-way through the 4th season. Guess this is how he dealt with rejection.

It's a shame - he was one of the strongest characters on Glee, along with the handicapped boy. I guess when you've been on the gear for 20-odd years, the grim-reaper is always behind you and will catch up with you eventually.

Well, considering his long history of drug abuse, this is not wholly surprising...Sad.

Seems like his luck ran out, RIP

Your comment was rude. We don't know yet what caused Monteith's death, It's sad, because I liked him (although my favorite was Chris Colfer) and everybody is quick to judge it was drugs... he came close to death before and was getting out of rehab, so we cannot just assume that it was because he was getting fired from glee that he took something, I haven't seen the series in a while, but as characters evolve, it's natural that the character had to graduate, it's up to the writers...
Addiction it's something very serious, and very few can get out, there are many artists that can't make it, I hope that Robert Downey Jr. who had a lot of problems with this will continue as he is now, that way he could be an inspiration to other artist like Monteith who dealt with addiction more than half his life

FYI, it's been announced today that he died of a heroin and alcohol overdose. Obviously a tragic waste of a young life.

Another idiot who was given the world and threw it away. Why, so many famous people die of drugs and overdoses, they get what so many people dream of and they just waste it, it's pathetic.

Let's just have him rest in peace.
