"...the harder I work, the luckier I get." What a great aphorism, R.I.P. and thank you.

Met him coming out of the Kingfisher Centre in Redditch, Worcestershire many moons ago. He was filming "Trainer" at the time. My friends didn't know who he was but I asked him for his autograph and a photo. He refused the to pose for the picture until he'd finished signing half a dozen autographs. Such a gent.

RIP Illya Kuryakin

He’ll always be The Man from U.N.C.L.E., not “NCIS”. RIP, Iliad

It’s surprising that the obituary didn’t mention that McCallum’s The Edge was sampled for Dr. Dre’s The Next Episode. Instantaneously recognizable hook.

You learn something new everyday and I never knew he was married to Jill Ireland before she married Bronson. "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." was an iconic show and a favorite of my mother but I was too young to like anything but cartoons and clean diapers when that show started. Only saw it in reruns. I am a big fan of "The Great Escape," which I have seen probably 40 or 50 times and never get tired of watching. Another from the older school passes. They don't make them like him anymore. RIP.

When you’re in your 50s plus that is when you never know when you will die from health issues all the junk we ate starting when we were born and all the smoking secondhand smoke and alcohol until age 40 start to back fire. Stay healthy folks. Too live to age 90 is awesome longevity.

He's mostly remembered in the UK for his role alongside Joanna Lumley in Sapphire & Steel, well, at least for those old enough to remember the show.

Great actor, he will be missed. It is always sad to see popular, talented, good people pass no matter their age. At ninety he certainly had a good innings.

All the Actors I recall from my youth are dying these days...

Illya Kuryakin set in stone my impression of Russians - and, in later life I wasn't disappointed - many whom I worked with were just like the character he played. It is sad, however, in recent times, how one (very different self-centered, person in real-life), can nowadays cast a dark shadow upon many others who deserve better respect and trust.

Yes, Sapphire and Steele, that was fantastic and he was great in that. Also Colditz, The Great Escape and Mother Courage with Diana Rigg.
