Def Leppard plays two concerts in Tokyo

British rock band Def Leppard played two concerts in Tokyo at Tokyo International Forum on Monday and Tuesday -- their first performances here since 2008.

Lead singer Joe Elliot referred to the March 11 disaster and said he hoped that Def Leppard's music would help fans in the Tohoku smile again and give them hope.

Elliot, a shirtless Phil Collen and the other members of the group, performed their hit song "Hysteria" and 22 other numbers for some 5,000 fans.

LOL. I have their "Vault" CD on my MP3 player in the car. My ex (from Russia) was listening to "Two Steps Behind" for the first time and said, "It's a stalker song!" I had to agree with her. :-D

Well he has his shirt off more than he has it on, so it's not really news.... If it was a shirtless Phil Collins however, that would be another story altogether.

Still, only 5000 fans? AKB48 would get more than that in a shopping mall appearance.

But could they get 5,000 if they performed with their shirts off? I've always admired Def's drummer for overcoming his accident and still power a heavy metal band.

A great band, yes, and still fantastic live after all these years.... but seriously, if Joe and Co. want to claim support for the people of Tohoku, then go and play a show IN Tohoku. Mr. Big. did.
