TV personality Dewi Sukarno spoke to reporters this week upon her return from America about a slapping incident that took place on a TBS program on Jan 9.
Sukarno, 73, returned to Tokyo to attend the funeral of her recently deceased actress friend Keiko Awaji, on Wednesday.
After the funeral, reporters asked her about the slapping incident which occurred on the program "Okusama wa Monster 2." A 33-year-old woman, who appeared on the program with Sukarno and other guests, filed a complaint with police after she was slapped three times by Sukarno during an argument while the program was being filmed, Nikkan Sports reported. The incident was edited out of the program before it went to air, TBS said.
Speaking to reporters, Sukarno -- the widow of former Indonesian President Sukarno -- said "What occurred between myself and that woman has, in fact, been resolved during a phone conversation. I truly feel sorry for having caused an uproar. I had no intention of doing so."

Not just slapped but slapped three times. And I'd wager this isn't first time this woman has behaved like this.
combinibento
She was arrested in Colorado back in the 90's for hitting a lady in the face with a wine glass, causing a gash needing 37 stitches.
JeffLee
What do you expect? She's a former bar girl who became one of several wives of an Indonesian dictator 40 years her senior. That's her claim to fame.
genjuro
You're right, paulinusa. A couple of decades ago she was arrested in the US. She got into a fight and smashed a wine glass on someone's face which required some serious stitching.

One thing I like about her, though, is unlike most Japanese TV personalities she speaks her mind without reserve. She doesn't sugarcoat her opinions or worries about disturbing the wa and just tells it like she sees it.

"I truly feel sorry for having caused an uproar. I had no intention of doing so.”
Typical non apology apology.

sorry not sorry
shinhiyata
I'll say this much, if that's a recent picture, she looks pretty good for 73.
trinklets2
@Shinhiyata, saw her pics when she was younger and she's really beautiful. With money, one can prolong beauty and youth. And really it's entirely different when you see someone in pic with make up on and in person without any make up. At times the faces are very different.
zenkan
It's official. Dewi-san is an old slapper.
rickyvee
monster parents and now monster talents.

73??? so is that an old image or plastic-surgery much?

Dewi committed a similar incident in Aspen Colorado. No excused for this.
Dewi, She is not reformed. I think she needs to go back to an Anger Management Program. This is a public record.
gogogo
Who the hell slaps someone, what give this woman the power to think she can do that... evil
samwatters
Have always hated Dewi Sukarno and everything about her. The 33-year old woman should have PUNCHED her back. A punch from a younger woman would have likely broken her nose and taught this old hag lesson.
nyunt_shwe
this reporting lacks in depth story and the consequences. If the story ends here, you have to question the fairness of the justice system of Japan. Her talk reported here is mean!
USNinJapan2
Ah, my favorite Japanese talentless tarento living up to my expectation for her.
SenseNotSoCommon
Comment of the week, Zenkan!

There is more to the story than in this report. The TBS staff asked the woman who was slapped to essentially be inflammatory, asking her to try to get emotion out of Devi. Obviously it worked, as Devi slapped the woman three times. The woman then went to the police and filed a victim report.
I think both the TV station and Devi have responsibility in this matter. The TV station for purposefully instigating it, and Devi for doing it. I hope the woman got a lot of money from both parties.
dbsaiya
There's a five letter word that begins with a B that describes her and the only way to treat these type of people is to B---- slap them back.
Alex Einz
I bet the 33year old was rude enough on purpose and well deserved a proper slapping.
silvertongue
I just slapped my knee listening to that empty apology!
WA4TKG
Well, I guess she's next in line for a funeral, and some OTHER psyco rich girl will come back to japan, and get rushed by rag reporters for what THEY did somewhere....the never ending cycle.
globalwatcher
Are Japanese still treating her as a celebrity "talent"? She does not deserve that.
To my eyes, she is just a criminal offender. And worst yet, she is not remorseful and has not learned a life lesson to respect others in humility.
StormR
No surprise I always thought this woman to be a Biotch.
She needs to be charged for assault and sent to anger management. Some of these talentless showbiz types really do think they are special, when in fact they are nothing more than narcissistic r's wipes with no talent at all.
asybot12
@psycho 0944am . plastic surgery or what?? I don't (or didn't) think there was that much plastic around to do that at 73 years old. I guess it is a medical miracle! A secret hot spring ? (sarc off), the picture must be a little musty itself, just like she is.
Tessa
Zsa Zsa much?
Marilita Fabie-Fujisawa
What's her talent anyway? I still can't get the point as to why she's in TV?

Seems like kowtowing to Devi to blandly call this a "slapping incident". The headline and first paragraph should clearly state that this deranged witch slapped another person as in "Dewi Sukarno slaps woman on stage". Its not like there isn't video evidence.
One has to wonder why this article is so gentle to this foul and evil creature.
One has to wonder how Devi convinced this woman not to press assault charges. The ideas I am coming up with are not pretty.

Why do people look at a photo and think that it is how the person looks now when the photo states it is a 'FILE PHOTO'.
Cos
Make up, good light and photoshop. It's a photo of 2005 but that could be yesterday. It seems you don't have a TV, Debi Fujin is often in it and not always under the best angles. She was a drop dead beauty in the 60's, that can't be denied. Now... I think she does look like a 73 that necessarily had heavy work done on her face as she has totally changed compared of bone structure, and well you don't reach 73 without a wrinkle. Nothing secret, I have heard her talk about doing stuff to look youthful. She's possibly older, Celeb's age is the choice of their PR staff and her true age and origin have been debated since she snagged her famous sugar-daddy. As if that mattered. Well, I guess that provides pretexts for discussions that end up in cat fights...and therefore media exposure. That's what she wants, no ?
flamnhead
Wow! I want that excuse to work for me. I didn't mean to... slap the shiz-snot out of you. I had no intention of doing it. Awesome! just Awesome. Hands down for sure.
toshiko
She still knows how to handle nosy media.
toshiko
She has been hated in JP and so she goes to interview to earn some money. She is very poor. No record of Swiss or US banks
Argus Tuft
The ideas I am coming up with are all green.
toshiko
@Argus: TBS told this victim to instigate and irritate Devi. The woman received Dewi's summary of autobiograph. So she was efficient. Quick tempered Dewi did what she knows --- She was not educated so she was never good to discuss. Naoko Nemoto is her name. Japanese Govt used a large night club Cocabana to entertain foreign dignitaries and she was a hostess. Not only TBS but medias conduct interviews like fight on stage. Oprah shows differ from them. When she was engaged to Sukaruno, Japanese media (only men media era, then) hated her. Media never asked her true story behind Indonesian government change of Govenrment (down communism) because Japanese male media then treated her like lowest Japanese. She escaped to Paris instead of Japan. She had love stories and Japanese gossip magazines sales went up up when her stories were written. One thing she did was one of palace building to her suicided brother;s name Yasoo. It was a long time ago but too much pressure that next year after her mother died, her brother suicided. Imagine a widow of President who need to earn money by accepting interviews of her enemy medias.
Elbuda Mexicano
This Devi Fujin is an IDIOT!! She will do anything to be on J TV and it is only getting worse and worse, she should have a bit more SHAME!
toshiko
Elbuda: Unlike poor Mexicans in USA, she sure knows how to earn about $15,000 per interviews. 73 years old without IT skills. Worse or not, Media loves her kind of attitude.
slumdog
This woman has a pathological problem with violence and has been quite lucky thus far. Personally I think it is high time for this arrogant woman's luck to change.

Agree. She should not have any access to weapons, especially guns. She is a habitual violence offender. I am amazed that Japanese are too soft for her and want her unpunished.
toshiko
@globalwatcher: How did you get info about her ownership of weapons and guns? Do you know she knows how to use guns? Only gossip papers (Japanese) say is that her old old autobiography books are selling well again. Do Japanese know how to use guns?
slumdog
Gee, I really wish it was Dewi that got the slaps for a change.
toshiko
@slumdog: You could write to One of US Medias your wish so that American interviewer will not be instructed to irritate Dewi and That media will increase appearance fee for Dewi with instruction to make Dewi slaps interviewer. Her kind of status people get one hour interviews. Here in local stations in our area, $500 for two minutes appearance. Entertainers use their own clothes or show attires but Dewi type people spend new wardrobe money to appeal talk shows. She is poor so she may only spend $2,000 for new wardrobe. If you are asked to appear on boxing and bloody sport, make sure you get flat boot.. The mat is too deep. But never wear clothes you used once in other talk show.
slumdog
Agreed. Even without the violence, she is one nasty piece of work.
toshiko
@slumdog: What do you mean Even without violence. We JT readers knew she slapped a mdida interviewer three times. Staged by media or not, she was violent. What kind of punishment are you suggesting? Are you going to punish her?
