I remember his song "America", which celebrates immigrants going to America. It seems that things have changed there.

That's because when Neil Diamond wrote that song most immigrants entering into America back then were there to improve their lives, these days there's a huge impasse in the quality of immigrants.

Kentucky Woman is a great example of his songwriting genius. That said, I prefer Deep Purple's version. It's one of those rare covers that surpasses the original.
