Having 3 partners as a single woman, plus one affair as an unhappily married woman with a philandering husband, is not "promiscuous".

I thought Dodi was the only dalliance she had on the other side of the colour bar........

How is that relevant?

This is embarrassing quite frankly. Whatever anyone may have thought of Diana, my God her sons are still alive and around to see and hear about this garbage and Dr Khan has exhibited more restraint and dignity than these movie makers ever will. Let it go. People will always be fascinated with Diana but why portray a fake character you actually know nothing about?

Yes, so some may have seen her as promiscuous. Give the girl a break. Married at 19 into the most dysfunctional family on the planet, to a husband still in love with the One That Got Away, and all completely in the public eye. How would any of us have reacted?

What was the question that Mayo asked her, that she reacted so badly to?

I think the whole idea of this movie is just bad. What's the point of it?

@ChibaChick

Exactly. How can we expect normality from people living that kind of insane lifestyle?

I'm no royalist, but I feel for her. For all of them and their wretched, paparazzi-ridden existences.

Ugh, I'm not surprised. Even the trailers were cringe-inducing.

Eh? I thought Dodi was the only dalliance she had on the other side of the colour bar........ The adoration for this woman who was dim, narcissistic and clearly prmiscuous (as I learn from this movie) still puzzles me.

I can't believe they bothered to make a 'Mills and Boon' like story out of an aspect of her life that no-one cares about. Naomi Watts this is a very bad career move for sure...your 'Catwoman ' perhaps. I would love to see a lot more of Naveen Andrews in quality films though..

Maybe a pointless, unintelligent, bland movie may appeal to those who gobbled up the pointless, unintelligent, bland publications about her life. 'Diana: Her Last Love' - it's depressing there is a market for this tripe.

From now on, I think I'll follow the English Royal Family's lead and ignore this.

Maybe just me, but I really hate movies about relatively recent, in-my-lifetime news events. It just seems so stupid and stultifying. Even if they were cinematic masterpieces (LOL), I would have zero interest in seeing them.

I like Naomi Watts (great in Tank Girl with Lori Petty), but this is a bad career move. The film will only fuel the "Daily Express" with more conspiracy theories and hurt Diana's sons. I never liked the woman, but fictionalised biopics like this are not needed. Probably as accurate as "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter".

promiscuous was the wrong word - i am fine with that. Adulterous was the one i wanted

I can't believe its been 16 years since it happened.

fair enough ffsteve.... I felt no more or less for her than any standard person... but the OTT mourning was very disturbing. Spoke of deep societal issues.

I agree that the hearse being showered with flowers and the bystanders wailing was just weird, but as falseflagsteve said, we didn't all behave in that manner.

Maybe the French will try to be funny with this and make cartoons of it as they did for Fukushima and the 2020 Olympics coming to Japan. I would be curious to see how they search for humor in it.

I want to see this movie. I will make my own judgments.

Not "relevant" per se. More it was news to me that she had hasd an affair with a South Asian bloke. i guess it would be seen in royal and royal adoring circles as a little bit more "out there" than a dalliance with (say) a member of the Household Cavalry like James Hewitt.

As an American friend used to say: "Those who can, do; those who can't, teach; those who can't get teaching positions, become critics".

@jaymann, I am British and i found it disturbing as did many others. Please don't tar all of us with the same brush,

Me too. I found the first few days following her death particulary creepy - people crying on the street and in the shops, radio stations all playing sombre music, it was a very sad time of course, but the countrywide reaction to it was odd to say the least.

one affair as an unhappily married woman

Err... James Hewitt, Will Carling, Barry Mannakee, James Gilbey, Oliver Hoare... And those are just the ones on court records.

Puzzles me too! I couldn't understand the mass hysteria after her death, even from people you'd think would be more level-headed. I'm not saying that her death was anything other than a tragedy here, just to be clear. But she was a pampered, highly manipulative woman (aren't they all?) who used the world's press to lash out at poor, old Charlie. The country's money she spent on her endless beauty treatments was obscene!

the Poms need to seriously get over themselves with the whole Diana thing. The worst moment I recall was watching the lines of people wailing and keening at her casket going past... as if they actually knew her. It was very disturbing, it reflected poorly on the English imo.

The film can only be boring.

How can we expect normality from people living that kind of insane lifestyle?

That's the other way. The woman was crazy, that was proven. We'll never be told if she was diagnosed and on treatment, but it's likely. And that's why she was casted for that reality show called "Royal Family". Nobody in her right mind wanted to marry that weirdo Charles. That worked, they got a huge audience with her character and her regular nervous breakdowns.

Having 3 partners as a single woman, plus one affair as an unhappily married woman with a philandering husband, is not "promiscuous".

No. But it seems she had dozens of affairs, many with married famous guys, from sports champions to reigning royalties. This is not a crime, just bad taste. We're not in 1930. She'd have been your relative, you'd have find it amusing to have Aunt Diana with all her stories. But she was hugely embarrassing the ex-in-laws, for sure. Now, did they "solve" the problem, or did fate "solve" it ?

I would love to see a lot more of Naveen Andrews in quality films though..

I agree.
