Is it still called a tour if you only visit one city?

Of course it was 1983, but it was and still the best concert I've ever been too. It was "in the round" and she was so engaged with the audience. I wish I would have known a little sooner. I won't be in Tokyo then.

Tours by foreign artists typically include lots of countries on the same run not just Japan, one city or more, hence the term tour!

I like it when people in their 70's still rock on stage.

I'm there!!! But at the same time, what does she sound like at 70? And no age discrimination intended.

Nice hair! And she looks 40 in this photo!

Nice. I hope that Japan and Taiwan enjoy more Motown and Gospel Music. :)

Bring the Supremes, Temps and Smokey and I'm first in line for tickets.

She must be short of a few bob. Large tax bill, was it? How can visiting one venue be considered a 'tour'?

Diana Ross had a TV show in USA. Tsunaki Aid in 2005.

With that voluminous hairdo she'll have trouble getting through the stage door here.

Pukey2OCT. 07, 2014 - 10:20AM JST I sure hope she's looked after her voice. Mariah Carey came to Japan this month - the singing was awful, to put it mildly.

How could you tell?

Perhaps, but were she still popular, she might have done at least two nights in Tokyo, a night in Nagoya and a night or two in Osaka. That would then, for the most part, constitute a "tour of Japan" since few acts ever make it to Sapporo or Kyushu.

movieguy -- agree. I saw her in LA during the '84 Olympics. Even though there were thousands there at the old Universal Amphitheatre, she somehow made you feel she was singing directly to you. Hope for those that will attend in Tokyo that she still has that same charisma.

Missing, I assume you know R.E.S.P.E.C.T.was done by Aretha Franklin? (Lucky enough to have seen her in concert as well -- front row.)

Don't take my word for it. If you dare, have a look at this for starters. Thankfully she resorted to lipsynching during the second night when hitting the high notes. Now Carey's fans can understand what Houston's fans went through. A shame, because I really liked them both when they started. When you've got that sort of voice, you have to look after it, instead of showing off and overdoing the vocal gymnastics.

I do hope Ross' voice is still good. Her 70's and 80's stuff were real classics.
