Looking forward to seeing it. DiCaprio is underappreciated as a comedic actor but some of the scenes of him in the wolf of wall street were hilarious.

Adam McKay, Will Ferrell’s ‘real’ Stepbrother (2008). Will watch to see if it’s, hopefully, “funny”.

McKay’s Holmes & Watson (2018) was a disappointing waste of potential: a really great, talented, ensemble cast with Ferrel, John C. Reilly, Ralph Fiennes, Rebecca Hall. - Here’s hoping this doesn’t taint DeCaprio, Streep and Jennifer Lawrence!

I don't think the billions who are mired in abject poverty without sufficient food, clothes, shelter, medical care etc give a damn about so called climate change. They've got other things to worry about.

How about instead of making millions by making movies like this (and probably consuming truck loads of fossil fuels while doing so) DiCaprio and friends spend some of their time and money to help the poor....all the while downsizing from their huge mansions, refraining from flying, driving, etc.?

The planet has "such a limited amount of time and there's such a massive scale that needs to happen so quickly," said DiCaprio. "And if we don't do something, we know the outcome. We know the outcome."

He’s right. There is only eight years left according to the UN before it’s is impossible to stop the planet from cooking.

Meanwhile China is claiming they will reach peak CO2 emissions the same year as the deadline- 2030.

So the outcome will be? The exact same outcome as when the last two deadlines past. In the meantime DeCaprio will continue to live an extravagant lifestyle and virtue signal himself to sleep every night.

DeCaprio will continue to live an extravagant lifestyle

So? So do we compared to a lot of people living in places like North Korea. I can move into a tent and it would be better for the environment, but I won't. What's this hate for rich people? Because living middle class in Japan is richer than how most people around the world live.

give a damn about so called climate change

Many are being inundated by water like in Bangladesh. They will care and so will many on US coasts including Miami Beach [NOW].

DiCaprio talking about climate while he jet-sets across the globe is satire in itself.

Yes, isn’t that hilarious, he’s worried about the Climate while flying the world in his private jet…I love it. Think he could live in Ishigaki with just an Ox ?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

DiCaprio has donated millions of dollars to environmental and social causes over the years. Could he really take a commercial flight without being hounded and harassed since he's so recognizable? The private jet is a moot issue. At least he's tried to raise awareness and help.

Repeating the final sentence just like a well trained propagandist.

DiCaprio, good intentions and the biggest hypocrite.

"DiCaprio has donated more than $100 million to climate causes, a large part of his wealth."

For tax purposes and virtue signaling. Hypocrite.

Yup, exactly

I found an interesting article on people who whine about those who do altruistic acts, like DiCaprio or Bill Gates. People complaining about DiCaprio are performing “do-gooder derogation”.

Why overly kind and moral people can rub you up the wrong way

https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20211122-why-overly-kind-and-moral-people-can-rub-you-up-the-wrong-way

Finding yourself taking such an uncharitable attitude towards people who are only trying to make the world a better place might feel uncomfortable. Yet this scepticism is a known behaviour, described by psychologists as “do-gooder derogation”. And while the phenomenon may seem to be wholly irrational, there are some compelling evolutionary reasons for being wary of unreciprocated altruism.

Cont:

In a similar public goods game, for instance, participants were asked whether they would like to kick members out of their group. Astonishing, they expelled the extreme altruists as often as the worst free-riders. Somehow, selfishness and selflessness were considered to be morally equivalent.

It all comes down to weak people who are afraid, because they realize that good people expose that they are lesser members of society:

Importantly, however, reputation is “positional” – if one person rises, the others fall. This can create a strong sense of competition, which means that we’re always alert to the possibility that other people are getting ahead of us, even if they are achieving their status through altruism.

That's why you only see losers criticizing someone for doing altruistic acts. The rest of us are too busy succeeding to waste our time with that.

The human race is standing against the monster they've created

Two things: "...WE'VE created..." because otherwise we eschew responsibility for what we are ALLOWING to be done.

Monster: The "monster" is us and specifically that relatively small part of US that has no morality except Greed for wealth and Power and rules us even in the face of inexorable destruction. This small segment of distorted Humanity (1-2% of all live births) has ruled us for thousands of years and is absolutely blind to anything that would stand between it and acquisition of its desires. Governments are the 'tools' of these deranged Humans, these parasites, which manage the rest of us, extract from us our life's energies to feed to the parasites, and protect them from the outrage of the 'herd'.

THESE are the 'monster' that has arisen amongst us thousands of years ago and now leads us into extinction by way of an apparent 'quality control' function inherent in natural selection, or what is colloquially and inaccurately called 'evolution'. When we listen to the incessant 'talk', we are distracted from the actual behavior which changes not at all if no better example than COP6 and the simultaneous recent announcements of increased and expanded hydrocarbon extraction around our small fish tank of a planet and 'goals' far enough into the future to offer no threat to current Corporate 'profit taking'.

WE did not 'create' this monster. It is the product of our derangement into hierarchical dominance by murderous psychopaths who wipe out, and have wiped out, all other Human social structures. We have no control over it and have become too damaged by it to have the collective capacity to undo it. Even if we were to remove all of these extant parasites now, we would just install new ones as we do and have done in any 'revolution'. And all that we will leave to our children and grandchildren is a very nasty slide into oblivion.
