Hail DVD!

In your local gas station discount DVD bin by midnight tonight!

I remember seeing this special on TV as a tween. Princess Leia sang on it! It was so awful that George Lucas has made sure that it will never be seen by anyone ever again. He also wishes he could do the same with the film 'Howard the Duck' from 1986. That film was so wretchedly horrible, it made me sick.

In the new special, the heroine Rey sets out on an adventure with the droid BB-8 and is "hurled into a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars cinematic history," Disney said in a statement.

Yeah. That totally sounds like "Mickey Mouse meets Star Wars". What utter idiocy. Oh well, I cannot wait until this monopolistic leviathan called "Disney" collapses. Hopefully this will speed that process. I wish they had stuck to theme parks and cute in-house animations and just left Star Wars, Pooh and others alone.

Well he is doing a horrible job as it made it to VHS and is available on Youtube. Or maybe he just isn't doing that. Here is the name on Youtube. "The Star Wars Holiday Special (HD) "The WHIO 1st Generation 2013 VHS"

Looks good fun. People take their childhood faves too seriously. Sacred cows and all that.

That said, I saw the original when it aired on the tv and I was quite disappointed, thinking I was getting a proper sequel...

It's great trashy stuff. Admittedly, it doesn't capture Steve Gerber's vision in the slightest, but the addition of Thomas Dolby on the soundtrack made it palatable.

Your avatar is ... disturbing.

But yes, a good mix of bricks and the force should provide entertainment for all.

I hope they give the Wookie speech subtitles this time.
