There were 12 episodes for a reason.

I can imagine what Mr Fawlty would do to a "trans" or "non-binary" guest in the hotel. That could be really funny!

Don't stumble with this, be offensive yet subtly self mocking and it could be legendary.
I hope John Cleese etc al still have what it takes.

Exactly, and one of the main reasons it's still so widely loved. 2 seasons, 6 episodes is still the model for many UK TV shows.
This is will only muddy the waters of the classic. Cleese isn't getting any younger and his anti-woke rantings get increasingly more worrisome.
Basil, Whatever you do,. . .don't mention the woke!

As soon as they said American, I realized it’s gonna be a flop. Or a money grab. It’s like What Americans did to Billy Connolly. If you like British comedy. Stick with it! Don’t try and Americanize it for a mass audience. It’s great because it’s got a niche audience in the US.

Oh dear. I hope I'm wrong, but I have very grave reservations about this. Cleese hasn't done anything funny since "The Life of Brian".
Watch his turn in "Bullseye". Woeful. "Hold The Sunset"? A omedy series apparently written by an AI which forgot about the "humour" part of " gentle humour".
I really hope I'm wrong, but this looks very much like a cashgrab by an old man who sees a big paycheque and hears Time's Winged Chariot hurrying near.
I'll give it a try, but I'm not holding my breath, and I know Cleese doesn't give a t0ss either way. Money in the bank, thank you and goodnight.

Think I read a comment on here some time ago regarding Cleese, along the lines of, "the young John Cleese would be shocked and disappointed seeing what the old John Cleese has turned into." Succinctly put.
I'd also add that Graham Chapman would be utterly ashamed of him as well.

Nice idea but.
The proof is in the pudding, to reboot an old saying.

A reboot, nearly fifty years on, and with an American overlay?
In the age of woke?
Nah. I loved Fawlty Towers, but I don't really see this being at all worthy of the name.
I would love to be wrong.

Looking forward to seeing it!

A new catchphrase may soon be born.
"Don't mention the reboot".

It was lightning in a bottle- please don't mess it up.

Won't be funny, as nowadays the Woke Nature of Media can't poke fun at anyone for fear of being criticized - which is where this show really excelled back in the past.
