All weekend long I was wondering who would be next, because these things seem to happen in threes... RIP Glenn Frey... You may have checked out, but you will never leave our memories.

Dear Glenn,

Rest in peace and thank you so much for the good times.

Sincerely,

A really sad fan

The Eagles have great melodies ringing of that 70's era vintage classic rock. RIP Glen. Thanks for those masterful guitar compositions.

This great artist will be truly missed. Wow the Grim Reaper is working overtime in the Entertainment World, and I lost count. It's definitely way more than three.

Man, that totally sucks. Been a bad week for entertainer deaths. I was was totally going to think it was Cancer he suffered from. R.I.P. Glenn.

I remembered in the 80s one of the Fly Girls from In Living Color lived across from my friend in LBC. I was a kid and she was in her early 20s. Her boyfriend was Glenn Frey who was in his early 40s at the time. I would see him sometimes pick her up in his 60s model drop top Chevy and I wanted to grow up and be just like Glenn Frey haha RIP playa

Also Dale Griffin, the drummer and co-founder of the British glam-rock band Mott the Hoople, died Sunday after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 67.

He and Don Henley were both a piece of work as individuals if you have seen the Eagles documentary...and still one of the best song writing duos ever (although I can’t agree that Don had the better voice).

I had the honour & privilege of seeing The Eagles live a number of years ago and can honestly say it was one of the best concerts I've ever witnessed (and I've seen them all). Glen humoursly came out on stage and said 'Get ready because it's going to be a long night' (concert ended up being over 3hrs!). Amazing artist, amazing group - one of the greatest in music history. RIP Mr. Frey! I will be playing your tunes all week in salute!

Glenn Frey had a great voice and a superb sense of harmony. They called it 'Glenn's glue'. Not to mention his outstanding songwriting skills. In the 70s (and even after) there was a lot of dissing of the Eagles and other melodically-minded groups from people who though rock had to be avant-garde, or otherwise 'pure' to its roots, or otherwise it was crap. That always bothered me. I believe in the big tent theory of music. As long as it tries really hard to be good, in whatever way that may be, it deserves an ear. Glenn Frey will be missed.

Sad week for music.

Write his own songs; play his own music

Wow ! It seems my "formative years" are slipping away slowly but surely. So many hits, so many memories. Take It Easy (with Jackson Browne), Peaceful Easy Feeling, and of course, Already Gone. With each of his hits, the memories just come flooding back. You may be "Already Gone", but will forever live on in our hearts ! Rest in Peace Glenn.

On "Take It Easy", Jackson Browne had most of the lyrics down but was hung on a 4 measure segment. He asked his friend Glen for an assist and Glen Frey provided, "It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford slowin' down to take a look at me."

The Eagles were essentially the pioneers of "Country Crossover" - taking the Country style and putting it to Rock. The addition of Joe Walsh to the band planted them firmly into Rock & Roll.

bad month for rock stars

Bad month for performers in general: Jason Mackenroth (Blue Man Group Drummer), Pat Harrington Jr. (Actor), David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Dan Haggarty (Actor), Dale Griffin (Mott the Hoople Drummer), and Glen Frey.

Brought my karaoke performances to mind, but in a very sad way.

Saw the group in Auckland New Zealand last year. A piece of my history has gone. Be at peace

I saw them only once... they were on their Long Run tour and I caught them at the Aloha Stadium (festival seating) with opening act Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band. Most memorable because that's where I learned NOT to swig from a wine bottle that had been used for bong water. O_o (KAK! Kah! Bleh!)

Jack Tempchin, Glenn Frey's longtime collaborator and pal, plays in Tokyo on Tuesday 1.26.16 at Shimokitazawa Garden for one night only.
