The music legends keep passing away. EWF made some great music.

R.I.P. Maurice.

RIP

I saw EWF in concert in the early 2000s in Seattle and they still put on a great show. Whenever I see funk groups from the 70s, it made me wish I was alive when they were in the prime or just coming out.

My favorite EWF songs are "Devotion" and "Let's Groove". How about you guys?

WOW! I am in shock! This guy was one of the greatest of the greats. I remember listening to EWF while growing up and loving everything they put out. As I got older, I still listen to their stuff very often. The music world surely lost a great, great singer and innovator in music. R.I.P

EWF has toured a few times in the last few years or so with another "horn section" band, my favorite group of all, Chicago. They are scheduled to do so again this year. Wow ! We have lost a lot of musicians this year. Rest in peace, Mr. White.

Wow! Sad to hear that. Earth Wind and Fire is undoubtedly one of the greatest American bands. Had the pleasure of seeing them in the Budokan many years back and they were fantastic. RIP, Maurice.

What exactly is a session drummer. Always wanted to know, time for Wikipedia I guess.

Interesting name of Salty Peppers for his old band.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. White around ten years ago or so, in Japan, no less. He was in the VIP area of the after-party and I said a few words to him and to his brother Verdine. They were all there, but I kept it short and just said that I was a fan and thanked them for their music.

Maurice was sincere and generous in his response. I was so glad to meet those people. I think that was the last time that Maurice toured with the band.

EWF was the music of my youth and young adulthood. These guys live a clean life and made music that was ahead of its time. It was about peace, love and humanity. Their mix of world musical instruments and lyrics led me to often refer to a dictionary to define the words and tools of their music. Maurice White showmanship was highly impressive and if you were ever privileged to see one of their shows in their youth, it would leave** a lifetime of memories to cherish. RIP MW! ****
