I think he means the democratic country that betrayed it's citizens, and continues to attack other innocent citizens.

Bravo! An American hero the world can be thankful for.

The world needs more people willing to 'betray' their countries dirty secrets. There is little (actually none, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt) that Snowden's leak endangered any American lives, and, as far as I can tell, America has not suffered any attacks because of it (the attacks America has suffered have come because anybody can go to America and get an assault rifle).

As far as the film goes, I'm curious to see how it compares to the Documentary (Citizenfour).

The democratic country whose intelligence secrets he swore to keep safe, and which he blurted out to the world

It's called whistleblowing, a moral duty that requires courage and sacrifice.

We're proud of you, Edward.

That's a true hero in my eyes and always will be, otsukaresama deshita!

Snowden tried his best to go through regular channels before turning to professional journalist. He did not just "dump it on WikiLeaks". Please, do your homework, people, before regurgitating the usual Fox "News" talking points.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Way too many lazy couch potatoes. Do some research for pods sake!!

Some US citizen might regard him as traitor but he is an absolute hero to all other people on earth. Doesn't it make you feel better?

Hopefully this will be better than the usual Oliver Stone movie, which usually seem to consist of a load of macho types shouting at each other for two hours.

Snowden is an absolute hero, though. More power to him!

Who's this 'we'? Speak for yourself. Some people here.

Snowden is a ray of light in the usually dark world of news. Wish there were many more like him. Star-Viking needs to do his research before echoing the usual Fox "News" trash talk. Agree that S-V could start with watching "CitizenFour" a few times.

That's just the story the government wants you to believe.....

Traitor.

Snowden revealed ultra secret info regarding US national secuirity. His actios was so wrong he has to live in hiding and fleeing justice. Now he lives in Russia, a country that limits liberty, calls crime what is perceived as freedom, is enemy to liberty - and he's called a "hero"?? Hello, you guys enjoying internet, your freedom of speech and other safe democratic day-by-bay habits you take for granted, join Snowden in Russia even if for a brief time as a tourist. You'll see how wrong you are.

I've had a hard time with this. I respect Snowdon for having the courage to stand by his convictions. He exposed some things the American people needed to know. He also exposed some things that probably should have stayed secret.

I wish he'd shared the information with a few American news organizations, rather than just dumping it on WikiLeaks. He could have been a modern day "Deep Throat" and some reporters could have picked up on the legacy of Woodward and Bernstein. And a few people in power really could have had their feet held to the fire.

I can't wait to see this movie. I would not be surprised if Snowden was also behind the recent DNC email leaks that have seriously damaged the DNC convention and forced the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz. This latest round of corruption exposure has really hurt HRC and yet another round is expected soon according to Julian Assange. Most likely that will come from Snowden as well and Assange says it could be strong enough to indict Clinton on new criminal charges. Either way though, she's already finished.

No, it's called espionage and spying. Since he ended up in Russia he must be part of Hillary's Russian reset. She did a bit of "whistleblowing" herself with her unsecured server containing all of those secrets.

browny,

I think he means the democratic country that betrayed it's citizens, and continues to attack other innocent citizens.

The democratic country whose intelligence secrets he swore to keep safe, and which he blurted out to the world. Are there some distasteful facts within those secrets, sure - but that's the intelligence world, the embodiment of the "shades of gray" we experience in everyday life.

He gave those intelligence details to the enemies of the US, and much like Assange, did it to assuage his narcissistic personality.

“Every day, I’m working on something now that I can be proud of. I love my country, I love the things that we try to do,” he said. “The fact that Lindsay ... has been with me for 10 years, is still with me, that’s something that just makes me happy every day.”

He loves his country? Which one? The democratic one which he betrayed, or the totalitarian one which uses him to attack the USA?
