Elena Natsumi shows teen spirit for Senko Riot 2009

Child "talento" Elena Natsumi, 14, has been chosen to be the first poster girl for the music event, "Senko Riot 2009," to be held on Aug 8 at Tokyo Big Sight. This will be the second year for the outdoor music festival, which features teen bands nominated from around the country.

Natsumi, who described herself as "in love with music," is known to hold her own on the guitar, bass and drums. The teen seemed eager to show her commitment to the event, saying "I'm looking forward to working closely with everyone, shaking things up, and showing the world the power of youth."

At first I thought it said only that "she could hold her own guitar" but it says: is known to hold her own on the guitar, bass and drums.

Phew, I'm glad she can do more.

She really isn't a child...preteen talent? Anyways good replacement for Ai Shinozaki

well i hope she can play. it's a shame that in this day and age that the ability to play is not seen as a prerequisite for being pictured holding an instrument

"the power of youth"

Still no match for the power of ojajis and obasans.

You go with your "guts" pose. Best Riotist, anyone?

That sort of looks like the old black panther salute. Does anyone know a site that has some of her music. I would like to hear it.

She should make a guest appearance at Cannibal Corpse's upcoming gigs, slaughter some wussies in the moshpits, lol.

". . . is known to hold her own on the guitar, bass and drums."

Yes. But can she play them?

Kinda hard to 'shake things up' when you're dressed exactly like 10 million other school girls in this country. Apparently she's showing the world the power of conformity...

Lol Jdudeo...I hadn't heard Cannibal Corpse in years. I think they'd be a GREAT double billing!
