Elton John on Friday sang at the White House at the invitation of President Joe Biden, after declining invitations from his predecessor Donald Trump.

About 2,000 guests were invited to the event, including activists, LGBTQ campaigners, nurses, teachers and others. Also in attendance were Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai and former tennis champion and activist Billie Jean King..

Hard blow to the trumpist awnings..

In the White House, great and illustrious world-famous figures who represent all the things that Trumpism hates were gathered in a great celebration..

John, who was on a marathon global farewell tour, thanked Biden for the invitation and also praised former US President George W. Bush.

John has made some classics, inclusion and diversity are fabulous, and the Repubs have no business using these artists who despise everything they stand for.

But that all fades into insignificance when you excuse a President starting a war on false premises resulting in death and injury to millions.

Trump loved Elton and Elton rejected him. Really the story of his life, no wonder trump is always in such a foul mood.

Trump had “legends” Ted Nugent and Kid Rock. Haha

LOL! This about sums it up doesn't it? Diversity and inclusion... except for those dirty Repubs.

Multimillionaire socialists sings for multimillionaire socialist. Both became millionaires in a capitalist society. There you go, fixed your headline!

If Biden would of invited Taylor Swift or Beyonce,it would approve his image,a President taste in music can translate to popularity, Obama jam in the Whitehouse more than any President, Biden need to improve his music rotation

Great singer and piano player. Love his 70’s stuff with that solid rock band behind him. He probably lives in LA right? I hope he survives the LA crime spree going on.

But why him? Oh, that’s right. He’s uncontroversial and gay. Why not Peter Gabriel or David Byrne? Ozzy singing War Pigs would have been great!

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Are the Democrat's worried about getting the "gay" vote? Is there even such a thing? Elton John is a singer who happens to be gay.. end of story.

How many socialists? Just poor grammar?

Anyway, Biden isn’t a socialist. I don’t remember Elton John saying he was a socialist but I’ll be happy to be better informed.

LOL!

Very sneaky in cutting off the full sentence there.

I agree with the poster’s idea ( expressed in the full sentence ) that politicians shouldn’t use songs if the artists who wrote them don’t agree.

I see that as a matter of respect.

"I don't know what to say, what a dump,"

Is this a fox top headline? Seems like exactly the kind of thing they’d run with and rile up some gullible folks.

Mr Kipling democrats already had the gay votes for decades and into the future, you must not be in up to speed on America

He seems to be besties with Cardi B. I am sure his popularity is through the roof. Wait til the next White House show when she shows up with Megan The Stallion to perform a special rendition of "WAP".

"I just wish America could be more bipartisan on everything," John said.

What a strange comment.

Why would Elton John, as a foreigner, care about this aspect of US politics?

Just play the piano and sing.

Honestly, the average American could care less if Biden brings in some famous or once famous musician. Obama and Biden (less so) love Hollywood and celebrities, that’s ok, that’s their choice, but for the average American this will slip under their radar.

Elton John is immensely popular still and rightly so. It isn’t just Obama and Biden who invite celebrities, as you well know.

He last played the White House with Stevie Wonder at the Clintons invitation in 1998. Also played a very successful fundraiser for Hillary.

He was invited to play the inauguration by megafan 45, but politely declined.

Sir Elton also praised Bush for his progressive AIDS work. It seems he has a lot of respect for US Presidents. Well, not all of them obviously.

trump hates everyone, even himself.

Normally, yes. But the USA has a real POTUS once again. That makes all the difference.

“By the way, it’s all his fault that we’re spending $6 billion in taxpayer money this month to help fight HIV/AIDS,” Biden said, in what I’m sure was meant as a compliment but came out sounding like censure.

It looked like John himself might have had to take a moment to process what the president meant.

John, being a leftist, loves and is likewise loved by fellow leftists. And to be quite clear the very large majority of "entertainers" are likewise of the same leftist persuasion. And this is why they, by and large, associate with politicians of the left. No surprise.

Utterly meaningless.

I am a Bakuninist leftist and do not particularly like John.

He praised a neo-con war criminal.

Biden is a neo-liberal capitalist stooge.

I think you are fixated on the false "left".

Elton certainly has his politics all mixed up.

I am guessing Trump was not hurt.

Americans recognize Trump as a bigger celebrity than Elton John.
