I’ve been reading the Daily Mail’s website. Their commentary about the Duchess (and not just from their Trumpian readers, but even from their own columnists) is shocking and appalling. I have seen them blame her for destroying the world’s rain forests, all because she dared to serve avocado toasts at a party. Seriously. I’m not joking. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

I can only conclude that it’s some toxic blend of racism, misogyny and anti-Americanism, beefed up by the type of unconstrained Trumpian vulgarity that is currently sweeping the globe.

I’ve been reading the Daily Mail’s website.

The Daily Mail is notorious for rightist, little-Englander, and reactionary trash.

They were doing this long before Trump lowered the tone.

People are going to complain even if they walked!

Certain sections of the press, especially the Dailu Mail, has four or more stories on the go about Meghan every day, all critical. She can do nothing right. It's fuelled by barely disguised racism. Harry gets it in the neck for supporting her, he was the favoured Royal for a while due to his service in the Army, the Invictus Games and his support of mental health organisations.

Elton John blasts relentless character assassination of Harry and Meghan

Completely untrue!

People just hate her only.

Completely untrue.

Harry has been getting hammered in the tabloids for years - from his punch-up in a nightclubs, Harry ‘pothead’ headlines, dressing as a Nazi for a fancy dress party and using a racist name about his brother in arms. The images range from a rugger-loving, beer-swilling, quick-fisted Hooray Henry to a tree-hugging hypocrite.

Some of it was actually uncalled for but he hasn’t had an easy time from the press.

Bored people with a mouth on them. Toxic mix. Would they prefer the royals not to use their position to speak out? Or should they be using a fiberglass yacht when they speak?

Why are people interested in this?

For the same reason (many) people are interested in the Khardasians,

Sister in the big house and people got issues. LOL, yep.

Alfie NoakesAug. 21  07:14 am JST It's rather strange that several Americans on a Japan-related forum are attacking members of the British Royal family, isn't it.

Why? She's American, so there's that. Also, plenty of Brits attack U.S. politicians and celebrities, as is their right, I suppose, even though the obsession with said people can be a bit over the top. It's not as if people from places other than the UK don't have opinions on the royal family. They are in the news plenty so it's kind of hard to remain ignorant or unbiased about them in some way.

Who on this site is attacking the British royal family and identifying themselves as Americans?

Not the son of Diana who has served in his country's armed forces honorably.

Diana worked hard to get landmines that kill innocent people out of the ground. Her son joined the people that put them in the ground and otherwise got innocent people dead for contrived wars of profit for the eilte that had nothing to do with service to the country.

You sir have a strange sense of honor.

she choose that life, hope she can adjust. allot of these people find out that it aint "all that", and want out. seems she didnt know dude that long, and hitched up.

Interesting to see if she stays the course. I sure as hell wouldnt want that life

who cares? I sure don’t, leave these.....people alone and let them wallow in their own juices.

It’s utterly amazing! How Trump got into this conversation is astounding, a ladybug dies and it’s Trump’s fault. You guys are hilarious!

I think the whole thing should be abolished, but they are best advised to keep quiet as much as possible. Harry’s father has a bad habit of using his position to sound off. His mother knows her place and keeps quiet.

His mother has been dead for over 20 years.

Britain's Sun newspaper at the weekend blasted the royal couple - Queen Elizabeth's grandson and his American wife, a former actress - as hypocritical "eco warriors" for flying on private jets despite voicing concerns over the environment and conservation.

John tweeted that he provided Harry and Meghan with a private jet to his home for security reasons but said a contribution was made to Carbon Footprint Ltd, which offsets carbon emissions by funding environmentally friendly projects.

LOL. People are complaining that Harry Meghan wasted fuel and were adding to the very carbon pollution that Harry Meghan were supposed to be campaigning against.

Elton's elitist attitude is that it's OK because he had paid for the flight and a donation/bribe was paid to some carbon footprint scam group.

Neither Elton, or Harry Meghan, seem to understand that it's actually the creation of the "carbon" which people are trying to avoid. I'm sure British taxpayers are happy that they aren't paying for this particular royal joyride, but actually creating "carbon" in order prevent the creation of "carbon" makes no sense. Unless you think that only rich, or royal, people should be allowed to create "carbon" whenever if suits them. Those little people (aka the voters, citizens, subjects, residents) had better cut back on their "carbon" production so Harry Meghan can travel faster.

toolonggone - To have such hatred towards people who likely effect your life in no discernible way is really quite pathetic and disturbing.

Some people believe that creating a larger carbon footprint WILL EFFECT their life in a very discernible way. Buying indulgences from some carbon footprint con artist doesn't prevent Harry Meghan from spewing more, and unnecessary, "carbon" into the atmosphere.

I find it odd that you're able to quote my post but the post itself was deleted. In any event, while I agree with you regarding the carbon footprint, I think we can both agree that the poster to whom I was referring, was him or herself not referring to Harry or Meghan's carbon footprint.

What people are objecting to is their "Do as I say, not do as I do" attitude to mere plebs. Save the planet, cut carbon emissions.... while they take several flights a week. If they just shut up, no problem.

It's not only the Daily Mail.

Farage launched a crude attack them at a recent right-wing event in Australia; it was closed to the media but his comments on Harry, Meghan and the Queen's mother (?) were leaked. Farage and his backers, the likes of Charles Koch, are climate-change deniers and ethno-fascists which makes Harry and Meghan prime targets.

More disturbingly, two Neo-Nazis were jailed in summer for making death threats against Harry for marrying a mixed-race woman.

Unsurprisingly, many of the earlier comments on this thread exactly parrot Farage's comments made in Australia...

When it comes to racism,Brits are probably worse.A difference is the British pretend to be inclusive,

They do seem to be more internationally minded, a bit aloof, kind of an annoying bunch. I dont think they are as hung up on race as folks in the US are. They seem to be allot like Japanese; have to work very hard to have a lower tier 1st class country, over concentrate on things we Americans dont, or dont need too. and are also subjects in a monarchy, well Brits have a much more defined monarch than the Japanese. Maybe this is why the place appealed to Megan, not as boring as the states. But they are brutal on their royals and politicians, your right about that.

Cant understand why they gave up their empire so easily though.

This article is full of silliness.

1.  Elton John is "the "Rocketman" singer"??

Harry and her are a "hard working down to earth couple"??

3.  I still distrust the notion of paying to a chariddy in exchange for living like a carbon pig.

De Generes "all your're trying to do is make the world better"  (I don't have words for this one).

EJ has always been a Royal sycophant anyway.

6.  Finally, referring to EJ as "John".....

Thanks JT.

Join us as plebs/voters and sound off as much as you like. If you live in a pantomime, and Megan chose to join it, don’t expect the same rules the rest of us live by.

Im betting in 5 to 10 she will want to be back in the good ole "racist" USA. Brits are not Americans;

they dont think act speak none of it, they got the island syndrome mentality and have to struggle more the US types.

The problem is shes such a hypocrite, and silly Harry is being dragged along down the clown chute.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Harrys made of different stuff. He was never happier than when he was manning a machinegun and mowing down Taliban in Afghanistan. Now hes been emasculated and forced to hug trees while wifey jets around the world with her international virtual signalling.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Meghan thinks shes in a movie so shesdoing the typical movie heroine act. its the real world tho, not 120 minutes of hollywood tearjerking.

Harry will dump her sooner rather than later.
