I’m basically a born-again Southern person.

And the feeling is mutual, I am sure.

Seriously talented guy.

Charge the audience way over the odds for tickets with the claim that attending the shows will see Jesus cure all you ailments and make you rich.

Get into the spirit of this nonsense.

The Bakkers in their heyday made for gripping viewing if not just to send a bunch of us young dudes into hysterics.

Probably the most bizarre thing on tv at that time.

Jim Bakkers "Prosperity Gospel" preaching -

"Why should I apologize because God throws in crystal chandeliers, mahogany floors, and the best construction in the world?"

or

"But when you come to Heritage USA, remember to bring your Bible and your VISA card - because the Bible is the Holy Truth, and God doesnt take American Express"

And Tammy - well she was her own larger than life circus -

"I take Him shopping with me. I say, OK, Jesus, help me find a bargain."

Be interesting to see Elton's take on her. So much to work with.
