I remember the day he died.
Although, he'll always live on, in our hearts. Like Groucho, who died around the same time but tends to get forgotten...

Elvis was always cool but I always think the sequined jump suit isn’t how I’d like to see him remembered. Elvis in the black leather suit for the comeback special was the business. I remember seeing a repeat of that as a kid and thinking I wanted to look like that.

Elvis was the greatest entertainer to ever live. He could do it all and he had it all. Long Live the King!!!!
Imagine the career he could've had if he hadn't been saddled with "Colonel" Tom Parker (who was never colonel of anything). Elvis wanted to make serious movies, but Parker would only let him read for bubblegum roles.

I do as well and I literally hated it, as I was a young tweenager lad, delivering newspapers, and the local paper put out a HUGE edition that weighed a ton! Hot, humid, nasty August weather, delivery to over 100 customers, pulling a wagon, drenched in sweat.....

CrazyJoe - hear hear.
I read he was under consideration for the role of the has-been mentor figure in the 1976 remake of A Star is Born. Can you imagine how great he would have been in that?
Thanks to Parker, the part went to Kris Kristofferson.
IMO Parker has Elvis' blood on his hands. The reason he worked himself near to death in Vegas was because Parker was gambling away the money faster than Elvis could make it.

I remember the day he died. We had arrived in Ostend from Dover on the ferry, and all the Belgium newspapers had the news on page one.

I'll be having a Big Mac and cheese with a large shake and fries to commemorate the day.

There's a guy that works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis...............

Maybe Elvis will serve customers with fish and chips or not ….....

His legacy lives on. That's the iconic image for me, too. A few years later that image would be called
'P-U-N-K' . Add Elvis' famous sneer and rebel image and you get Billy Idol, a major Elvis fan. Bruce Springsteen was greatly inspired by him too. So was John Mellencamp. I've seen these 3 artists and there's others who are influenced by him.
Elvis Lives.

An 84 year old Elvis would just be another Hall of Fame inductee story if he hadn't died 42 years ago at 42. An 84 year old Elvis...let that image roll around in your head like a fine 'oil' on the tongue and in the lungs... Naw, not even with the oil can I imagine an 84 year old Elvis... and worse, he might have been 250 kilo by the time he passed. He seemed well on the way. Would he still be "ELVIS!" had he lived? A question for the Ages...

Love the Elvis Country - I'm 10,000 Years Old album. One of his latter greats.

Watch Bubba Ho-Tep. Now, that's imagination!

He's got a huge discography. The remasters are the tops of course. The ones to avoid are the ones where his vocals are mixed with modern studio work - incl. synthesizer and drum machine programming! And those disgusting 'duet' CDs too. All those 'modern' releases are crapola to the max. There's plenty of terrific compilations that appeared in the 80s and since. You need to shop around and do your homework first in order to get the best stuff from this guy.
