Emi Takei has her sights set on Hollywood

Actress Emi Takei, 17, is keen to work in Hollywood. After finishing a voice acting assignment for the Japanese version of the forthcoming "Wild Speed: Mega Max," she says she would love to be in a Hollywood action movie. She says voice acting for films was a challenge "because it is hard to match the mood of the characters on screen with your own."

Speaking about the movie's rough-and-tumble lead character, played by Vin Diesel, Takei said she likes wild guys who can take control. "The character may look a little dangerous, but he has a good heart. Men like that appeal to me," she said.

"Wild Speed: Mega Max" is directed by Justin Lin. It opens in Japan on Oct 1.

Oh come on guys.... Learn to read!!! All it says was:

she would love to be in a Hollywood action movie

is like me saying "I would love have tons of money".

but the headline makes it look like she is on her way

Typical tabloid-style reporting...

The fact of the matter is that she was asked if she would like to work in Hollywood, to which she replied "yes".

Do you honestly believe she would have responded "no" to such a question?

anglootaku: "Good to see more Japanese going to Hollywood, Memoirs of a Geisha was a good film though ruined by not using a Japanese actress, just didn't seem authentic enough.. so more REAL Japanese actors/actress is good"

She's not "going to Hollywood", my friend, she just said she would if she could. Fact of the matter is there if not enough Japanese talent out there that can speak English for Japan to 'truly represent itself' if a movie involves Japan. Hollywood or the TV stations are starting to throw in more Japanese to increase ratings, but that does not mean they have any language skills. Stop complaining about a Chinese woman being a geisha in a Hollywood movie until Japan starts making Japanese movies about Japan worth a squirt of urine. Fact of the matter is, Ziyi Zang probably knows more about Japanese culture than Japanese do -- that fact makes Japanese people angry.

Does she speak any English?

Perhaps yes, "Wairudo supi-do mega makusu....!"

I wonder if she plans to wait tables.

Well spoken smith!

17 years old so with the 10 year Japanese maturity conversion she is 7.

I found her comments to be perfectly mature, particularly in their frankness.

I just realized "Wild Speed: Mega Max" is the unecessarily translated title for "Fast Five". Didn't think that title could get any worse, but I was wrong.

I wonder if she related to george takei at all they look alike, he did a great job with star trek.

Emi Takei has her sights set on Hollywood

If only Quentin Tarantino would make another Kill Bill, she would be all set.

Sounds like she's absolutely the right material for an acting career in Japan.

Does she speak any English? Might help her in her quest to go Hollywood.

thanks kid.

She has a brilliant and far-sighted future. Gambarou, Takei-san.

I'm going to pray that he doesn't - 2 of them were bad enough!

Do you honestly believe she would have responded "no" to such a question?

Yup. With the mindset of many youth in 21st century Japan, i.e. having less incentive or motivation to leave Japan for their studies, I wouldn't at all be surprised if she had said "no." In fact this may have been one of those times where "yes" actually meant "no" .

Good to see more Japanese going to Hollywood, Memoirs of a Geisha was a good film though ruined by not using a Japanese actress, just didn't seem authentic enough.. so more REAL Japanese actors/actress is good

I fully understand you. I'd wish Hollywood would stop using Australian actors like Nicole Kidman, or British actors like Robert Pattinson to play Americans. How can they understand a foreign culture. And what were they thinking when they cast John Cho as a Star Trekker named Hikaru! It's not as if they're actors.

As for Memoirs of a Geisha, the Chinese actresses' spoken Japanese was terrible. It was so bad, I thought they were speaking in English.
