Enjoy a breeze of nostalgia on the Friday and Saturday at a drive-in theater in Osaka.
The event has been planned in collaboration between J:COM rinku and Sennan City in an attempt to bring back tourism safely to the area following the pandemic of COVID-19. Drive-in theaters offer entertainment to individuals and family without taking risks of spreading infection.
"Drive-in Theatre @ Sennan" will see a large screen installed in the parking lot of Sennan Long Park (which has recently gained popularity as a "sweetheart location" among romance lovers). Beyond the screen, the glistening water of Osaka Bay will stretch out towards Awaji island and the horizon.
Three movies will be shown at the theatre during the event. On Friday, "Stuart Little" can be enjoyed by the whole family during the day, while in the evening, a Japanese horror film, "One Cut of the Dead," will take over the screen. On Saturday, romantics can enjoy romantic comedy "50 First Dates" alongside the sunset of Sennan City’s Marble Beach – which is selected as one of Japan’s "100 best sunsets."
Tickets to the Drive-in Theatre @ Sennan includes a menu from Sennan Long Park’s "Umi no Marche," which focuses on seafood dishes and healthy fruit juices and smoothies sourced locally.
Tickets for the event can be purchased online and will be issued as QR codes in order to minimize contact with staff on the day. Ticket holders can also choose to take part in a lottery to win spending vouchers for nearby shopping mall, Southern PIA.

Ahhhh, the memories of childhood. I remembered watching the 1st Star Wars, The Cannonball Run, and a slue of other movies at Drive-ins. I'm glad they are coming back. I'd like to pass this experience on to my family. I also have thoughts of the 50s era, when high school kids would sneak into the drive-ins in trunks of cars. However, this is not necessary with this drive-in. I also like to see this spring up everywhere. Good value entertainment.

This is something I'd like to see spring up everywhere. Some of my fondest memories as a kid were at drive-in movies.
