Illumination=tree lighting. The tree itself is special only because of its planting at the ceremony of turning on the lights. But hey, Enya will be on the Red & White show? Perhaps NHK will invite more international musicians for future show to mix with the Japanese ones? 21st-century, you have arrived in J-music.

A pretty manky-looking tree compared to all the expensive glitter on show at Midtown. C-List celeb anyone ?

For goodness sakes, it's a blooming Christmas tree.

Is illumination tree some kind of new PC thing here in Nippon?

Is an 'illumination' tree the same as a fir tree? If so, shouldn't we read that Enya planted a tree that was used in a Christmas decoration scheme? She's going to be on NHK Dec 31? Isn't Jero going to be on, too? Are they on the same color scheme?
