Clapton got both AstraZeneca vaccine shots against the virus but said he had “severe reactions" and feared he'd never play again. The CDC says clinical trials have found the vaccine is safe.

His age is cause of worry but being already vaccinated and infected while Omicron is prevalent means he is much more likely to recover without problem.

“It is very frustrating that having avoided COVID throughout lockdown and throughout the period when travel restrictions have been in place Eric should have succumbed to COVID at this point in time,” the statement reads.

Since this is what lockdowns and restrictions aim to achieve it should be understandable, also "succumbed" seems too hard a word for the infection, after all the info only says he got infected, not sick.

that happens with every kind of medical treatment, that does nothing to contradict the fact that vaccines are safe in the medical sense. He was demonstrably wrong about vaccines. They are simply much safer than risking the infection without them.
