Maybe they know Kiev will be under Russian control

Ukrainain have lost the ability to do anything by themselves, just openly begging others countries to do something, their government should be doing, and get pissed off ,if you do not support them, everybody catching some kind of hell these days, they are not the only one

One thing is certain - the fascist Russians will not be there.

Or the World Cup.

Or Wimbledon.

Or F1.

Or the Olympics.

Fortunately, they wont be seeing ANY international participation going forward.

Fightoo, you will not be either, misery love company

So much of hate here. As if any other country in this world doesnt have painful moments about itself, sth not to be proud of, at least Ukraine has never invaded any other country and killed their children and raped their women. Now is a serious situation, a matter of life or death for many many people, of course support is crucial here and now. And if you think it only affects Ukraine itself you are very wrong. Take Africa for example, now many people will starve there because our farmers cant farm like before and export grain. So before writing sth like this try to think more carefully putting your baseless sarcasm away.

They won through corruption, there are rumors. Unprecedented Russian sanctions has finished ice skating and gymnastics.. sport is sport. Even Art.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Don’t even need to have a show.

just announce Ukraine now as the winner again next year too.

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

But Ukraine is winning the conflict, isn't it? Surely they will wrap up the last few invaders in the next few days.

Of course it would help is their troops did't sell French artillery pieces to the Russians. Too bad corruption runs that rife.

despite angry protests from Kyiv

It seems not all in Ukraine are so angry.

I'm surprised Wales wasn't bullied or shamed into letting Ukraine win the World Cup qualifiers. Just be satisfied with the Eurovision win.

It's Kyiv, not Kiev.

So much of hate here.

You are right and the very number of haters commenting this article is a proof itself that Ukraine is winning the war against russia.

As for the Eurovision final, the Ukrainians have won it three times since 2004, so be ready for another Ukrainian Eurovision victory soon and the Eurovision final event in rebuilt Ukrainian Mariupol.

The UK entry was OK, but I thought Stefania was(is) a great song. Very catchy, with good lyrics, a song for its time.

It would be wonderful if we had a crystal ball that clearly showed Ukraine free from the grip of war and able to host the show next year, and I fervently hope that Mad Vlad will have got what’s coming to him well before then. But realistically, I think the organizers have no choice at this point but to look elsewhere. Blame Putler.

Slava Ukraini.

Maybe they know Kiev will be

It's Kyiv, not Kiev.

Technically, it's Київ, pronounced [ˈkɪjiu̯], if you want to be all judgemental about pronunciation.

Cep,the US government say it a stalemate, they are financing the money pit

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Ukrainain not dealing with their internal problems ,such as their Russian speaking population, will only prolong their misery,

They have a Russian-speaking President. Speaking Russian was not a problem in Ukraine until Putler started having a hissy-fit. Now hundreds of thousands of Russian-speaking Ukrainians have decided, thanks to Mad Vlad, to be Ukrainian-speaking Ukrainians.

But Ukraine is winning the conflict, isn't it? Surely they will wrap up the last few invaders in the next few days.

Every day they remain free and sovereign is a victory. Russian attempts to force regime change failed miserably so they revert to total destruction, inch by inch. The war is not over until fighting stops. What happens between now and then is anybodies guess. If you think the slow gains being made by Russia means it will end up victorious at the end, then you are being premature.

Germany spent three years in victory after victory before the tide turned. There are reasons to believe the tide may yet turn in Ukraine's favor when all the modern systems being donated have soldiers fully trained on their use and are dispatched to the front lines. Some will not be in use until the end off 2022 and beginning of 2023. Russia will find itself on the back foot and losing ground and will need to commit more resources to hold ground.

This war is a long way from over. Like a race horse Russia is in front for now, but staying that way is not assured. And every day of freedom is Ukraine winning.

Juu,Ukrainain killed their own children and people in Donbas as part of the war with Ukrainain seperatist,

At what point do separatists stop being "their own"? When they try to break territory away from Ukraine illegally? When they shoot Ukrainians and bomb Ukraine towns and Children on the other side?

the US is headed for a quagmire,if we have not learnt in Afghanistan and Iraq

The US has no soldiers in Ukraine fighting (apart from the odd volunteer) so is in no danger of being in a quagmire like Iraq or Afghanistan. This is a conflict between Russia and Ukraine. There are no other combatants except both sides have '"foreign legions" fighting with them. Over 42 nations are providing assistance to Ukraine. Why single out the US? Why not say 42 nations are headed for a quagmire for helping Ukraine?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

They have 3 former US service person in custody, captured in the war, Ukrainian quagmire or money pit , call it what you want,Ukrainian seperatist are Ukrainain citizen, whether they killed or got killed by Ukrainain

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

When Ukraine separatists kill Ukrainians and break all sorts of laws do you think they should have nothing done to them? Of course the government defends the nation from them and that includes killing them while they wage war against Ukraine.

No US quagmire and as long as they see the sense in donating assistance to Ukraine to help it remain free from Russia, that is their business. It is far cheaper than joining in the fighting.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Peter14,The government of Ukraine made no attempt after 8 years,to bring the seperatist back into the fold,it not cheaper for America, when the money could be used for American need,we budget money to defend against Russia, but Ukraine is not a priority for lots of American,it their personal economical survival that matter, the European should foot all the expenses, since they are at risk not America, the US is only thing Russian fear

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Ukrainain attack Russian with new heavy weapons, while Russian unleashed the mother of all missile attack all over Ukraine

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Can't host in 2023? Why not? Surely Ukraine is going to win the war. That's what the west has been saying since day one.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Technically, it's Київ,

Technically, it's Kyyiv. Or Kyїv.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Eurovision probably thinks there will be no Ukraine next year. Or if it still does in 2023 it'll be entrenched in urban guerilla warfare against Russian occupiers. And nobody will want to hold any contest in those conditions.
