Mr. Ebert was not only the best writer of film criticism, he was one of the best writers, period. RIP.

The balcony is closed. RIP, Mr. Ebert. A big loss to the industry, and to all of us. Hope you and Gene are talking it up in some balcony somewhere.

I grew up watching him...

I used to enjoy watching Siskel & Ebert's "At the Movies" with my Dad. Their camaradarie. light-hearted jostling, and in-depth knowledge of film was a such pleasure to watch. I hope they enjoy critiquing new movies together from up above.

What more can be said than what the other posters have already stated? He and Siskel were the first and ONLY movie critics that I actually liked and respected. A strong man to the very end......I will miss him.
