Prince made music that that got you dancing, got you funky and rocked you. Ok, so you could see the George Clinton/James Brown/Little Richard influences (amongst others) at play but all artists are influenced by others.

I miss him a lot.

Would MJ be "better"? Hard to say. Two talented but completely different artists. I suppose all those allegations against the King of Pop (TM) might put off the oh-so-clean and controversy free Trump camp.

I guess the Republicans use of artists as mentioned in the article is a sign of irony or politicians who just don't get popular/rock music.
