so when will it be shown here?

The show is broadcast exclusively on the Star Channel in Japan, a for-pay movie channel like WOWOW.

and sadly, on Star Channel it is a whole year behind. All on UK and US iTunes though - so not a major problem if you do not require subtitles for your partner/spouse.

have seen the start in "1912" , and the outbreak of the great war , is pure and simple , as always a perfect British product , " Downton Abbey"

Watched it all over the season via torrents/other means. It is still a good series to watch. I have to hand it to the Brits, they do put on some good shows. Some have compared it to the old "Upstairs/DOwnstairs" but I think this one is a bit better.

Can't wait until the second season of the Australian equivalent, "A Place To Call Home" comes out. Similar story but set in AUS in the 50's.

Quite smug to say that I have never seen a single episode of this dross. But as far as I have heard, it is a mid to low-brow soap opera akin to Dallas. My mother likes it, but my father refuses to watch it and reads a book instead.

In Britain there is some inevitable snobbery attached to it, although it is very popular.

So does this mean "24" is cancelled?

Pointless rubbish lapped up by Daily Mail reading types. One of the things that the UK owes the rest of the world an apology for along with cricket.

@Jimizo: I despise the Daily mail. Have YOU watched Downton Abbey at any length?

I find the acting, story and direction to be well done. We will be watching tonight.

What a genius comment. You've never seen a single episode yet you feel qualified to call it dross. Brilliant. Perhaps you'd like to review a few of your favourite restaurants that you've never eaten at? Or holiday destinations that you've not been to but we should stay clear of.

So did the Japanese Downtown with Matsumoto Hitoshi start from this BBC stuff?? (Now PBS??)

Two words: "Dreadfully boring." (After 15 minutes, I couldn't take anymore of it.)
