Some very graphic scenes with Kiko Mizuhara there. Well done intimacy coordinator?

Agreed, William. Really makes it hard to find any show that you can safely and comfortably enjoy with your parents or other family members anymore.

Simulating sex. Isn't simulating killing also a psychological danger? And smoking? Is it simulated at all?

Ah yes. Sex! So scary! Such an affront to nature! Must protect the children lest they get hairy palms from masturbation or go blind if they see people kiss on screen! Ridiculous. It's mindsets like this and lack of communication about sex and safe sex practices that lead to teen pregnancy and kids being taken advantage of.

By the same token, why shouldn't such a fundamental conceit of human existence be explored within film? Not to mention, it's not like Japan doesn't have a storied history with sexuality in film, even if modern Japanese cinema is arguably a more staid and conservative arena.
And to speak as if 'western' productions are wholly dominated by sex and violence speaks less about the creative output of whatever 'the West' is, and more about the person making such a claim. As if there isn't an abundance of family-friendly drama to view.
But I guess those pearls won't clutch themselves.

I thought the sex scenes in the otherwise (almost painfully) slow film "Drive My Car" were superfluous. It struck me as stupid to include them in a film which is so heavily dialogue based. The best way to protect the actress in that movie would have been to omit the scenes.
There is plenty of erotica and outright porn out there for people who want to see it.
fwiw, I think there are good sex scenes in movies, Don't Look Now etc. but also plenty of bad or unnecessary ones.

Bit late to the party. Happening overseas for a while...

Intimacy coordinators should have been a thing since the dawn of cinema but hey, better late than never. It's good news for the Japanese actors and Japanese film industry so they don't take advantage of their employees.

While K dramas do not have sex scenes, there are K movies that do, and some of them do a very good job of incorporating the sex without degrading it.

Sex scenes in TV and movies are completely immoral and poison the minds of the innocent.

Is their any loveless intimate scene

Watching KDrama on Netflix which seems to have 'kissing' as a bottom line, one hardly misses the sweaty and unnecessarily voyeuristic full body sans naughty bits (or not) scenes which are a prominent feature of 'Western' dramas and which seem little different from what is called 'porn' except the viewer has 'license' to watch and be titillated without 'guilt' because it is touted as 'mainstream' and almost 100% 'missionary'. Are average Western Humans so starved for 'intimacy' that 'nudity' and feigned copulation have become such a requirement to draw an audience? Feigned VIOLENCE and feigned 'passion' as major entertainment features... the 'circus' of today's Rome, while the 'bread' becomes harder and harder to obtain. What to make of it?

give me a break.
what actor has a limit to how much “fake sex” he will do on camera?
