It was good up until the final chapter when the author decided to change his original ending which actually made perfect sense for the sense.

In interviews, Isayama admitted to changing the original ending because the manga became popular, so he wanted to satisfy the new casual fans.

He also admitted that ending failed, so he is writing two new endings one based on his original ending for a later release because the unpopularity of the current ending.

Isayama basically pulled a "Snyder"!
