Kind of hypocritical, considering the porn industry is not SJW nor feminist, whatsoever

Sounds awful.

I’d like to know what guidelines are being used for emancipation. I don’t necessarily disagree with her but is this headed toward a reverse discrimination or a leveling of the grounds.

"the cast must be "varied physically and culturally" Well, good luck selling porn with fat ugly old people, that market segment is pretty slim.

What a cesspool the porn industry is. And this endeavor won't change anything.

I don't entirely fault the performers. There's good money to be made. And I'm sure that among consumers there are many sexually frustrated men who need some sort of outlet. But it's unfortunate that money is made and sexual release is gotten this way.

Movie and music industry sex has become so debased and crude. What happened to clean, romantic and fun sex?

In my generation, the girls didn't really watch porn much. It wasn't available at a click when we were growing up, so most girls didn't even have access to it. Guys would generally be more aggressive in finding porn.

The younger generation of girls have had access to porn, and therefore watch more of it. As such, it only makes sense that porn is going to evolve to have genres that are more female focused.

I'd guess that is the target market for this porn. We'll see if it grows or dies.

I don't care how "diverse" they try to make it ... pornography is a disgusting objectification of women.

A woman director creates a porn with two lesbians, and a target audience of women.

How would this be objectification of women?

"Feminist porn is part of a fight against misogyny on the same territory and with the same weapons as the sex movie mainstream,"

And yet women are the ones most likely to asking to be employed in mainstream porn, have for at least the last decade generally out number male actors regardless of the Country of production.

Traditional adult films "always follow the same kind of choreography... men dominate women,"

That isn't true. Femdom and other similar genres are among the most popular in conventional porn, featuring vixens in full leather gear. Not that I would know, of course...(cough, cough).

Well, I figure that's because no one really cares about the guys, so there isn't a demand for a wide variety of them.

There's porn featuring men for women who buy it. And then there's gay porn for gay men and lesbians. This is objectification of women and men.

Not only that, 'straight' porn for 'gentlemen' is an insult to the man who buys it. Seeing a dirty picture of a woman gives the idea that all women have to do is 'pose' to get their way with men. It implicates that men are stupid and easily manipulable - all a woman has to do is take 'em off. That stuff insults men's intelligence.

Porn is just plain stupid. It's not a 'feminist' issue because it cheapens sex + sexual attraction + sexuality into a money-making racket for both genders and it doesn't concentrate on the loving aspect, just what 'turns you on'.

there's gay porn for gay men and lesbians.

Not just for gay people. Women watch male homosexual porn at a higher rate than men do according to Pornhub. And interestingly enough, lesbians seem to often like gay (male) porn - according to lesbians.

Very interesting.

So they believe that most if not all porn is done without consent? The women arrive on set with no clue what they are doing there or what will happen, they are then forcibly raped on camera in front of a dozen+ witnesses, get paid, and go about the rest of their day only to repeat again and again the following day/week/month?

Seems to me they are usually scouted by some form of talent agency/manager who upon interview finds out exactly what they are willing and not willing to do, so the production is held up by having actresses show up on set who aren't willing to do exactly what is needed of them.

As well, there is porn in every type imaginable - hardcore, softcore, fat people, old people, ugly people, midgets, domination, etc. All they are looking to do is create yet another genre. Not gonna change what's already out there.

specialising in movies that "portray sexuality in an emotionally realistic way".

They are fighting an uphill -and imo unwinnable- battle against amateur porn. Ppl want to watch girl/bloke next door homemade sex vids these days. Ticks all the boxes i.e realistic, voyeur/exhib, varied etc.

I'm not against what Ovidie is saying, but making an escapist media form more "realistic" just seems a bit of a lost cause. Great if it works, but I guess only the almighty dollar/yen/euro will tell.

do people honestly still watch porn?

do people honestly still watch porn?

so 90's isn't it?

Can't say this development does much to spark my interest which has been on the wane for a while

Getting old and bored.

Meanwhile porn also exist for women, bi, gay and trans people. Are people from the LGBT who do porn also objectified or is another one-way SJW narrative?

Please see my post above. Of course these LGBT porn stars are objectified AND the LGBT people who buy it are considered to be stupid too. LGBT people do fall in love, but gay people fall in love with people of their own sex per say

Anyway, porn is porn whether it's for or geared for the straight, gay, bi of male and female genders - and it's just a big rip-off industry and it's stupid.

Oh well I must be old and old fashioned!

I watched porn as a kid and was obsessed when I found my father’s stash but I grew out of it and learned it will only lead you to unrealistic expectations and sexual dissatisfaction.

porn is basically watching something basic and normal being overly exaggerated and exploited IMO.

No you're not 'old fashioned'.

This stuff has been happening since before civilization began. Even some cave drawings have shown this stuff. Sculptures, mosaics, etc. from empires past depicted porn acts, even the grossest and destructive kinds. The 1979 movie 'Caligula' is based on the actual Roman Emperor. Nothing 'old fashioned' in your point of view.

something basic and normal being overly exaggerated and exploited IMO

it is. Something basic and natural - physical and sexual attraction is being hyped up yet 'exploited' and cheapened into a money-making racket. Some things are too good to put a price on, or at least I think so anyway : )

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I'm not against mild 'porn' ie. sexy poses, suggestive movie scenes, etc. But the in your face, gutter level debauchery in the modern porn industry is just trash. While much of it is stimulating, it leaves you feeling gross in the end.

Pre the sexual revolution of the 60's/70's sex was so repressed by the dominant church forces of the day. However, since liberalism 'freed' us sex has become an absolute free for all. Anyone, anywhere, anytime. anyhow.

Hopefully we'll learn to have a healthy balance.
