Love T.B's work looking forward to watching it.

Just check out any independent review of this film and you will see some of the most scathing reviews ever written. It is being described as a bomb beyond belief. The above piece is straight of the press from the publicist.

Another flop that will be marketed here as "America's No. 1 hit!"

This REALLY needed a live remake. any surprise it is being panned?

Love Burton but the reviews are well harsh for this one.

For an adult film, I'd agree. I usually avoid films with under 60% critical ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, unless a few of my fav critics have a positive take. But for a parent who watches such films with his kid, there's another rubric that's harder to define. I've seen some ridiculed films that my daughter loved and when you watch such films as a family it rubs off. Things I'd declare maudlin or banal had I watched them solo ... IOW, you get soft.

The original Dumbo is a wonderful movie.

Well, at least it will get to Netflix faster...

Apart from the Jim Crow stuff, yeah.

I don't understand these remakes. Let the Classic movies alone.

The reviews for this have been universally scathing. The concensus is that it's very boring and dull.

Right. The doves in blackface imitating crows was revolting. And singing a jazz-inspired song at that. Cultural appropriation from white folks. Thoroughly disgusting.

53% of the reviews on R-T are positive: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dumbo_2019/reviews/?type=top_critics And it has a 7.0 score on IMDB. I won't be running to see it, but universally scathing is simply not true.

Didn’t know there was a remake until I got home from a month in the US and watched my pre-recorded Little House on the Prairie reruns. All it reminds me of is Steven Spielberg’s 1941 classic where the general had to go see Dumbo because it helped him cry.

I give Rotten Tomatoes as much credit as I give my morning toilet visit.
The original movie is awesome given the times, and harping on about Jim Crowe references now, is akin to blasting the 'It's Cold Outside' song at Christmas. Pointless and irrelevant.

Just came from the theater.
Another Disney bomb.
So far, Disney had only one Live Action remake of its classics, Beauty and The Beast.

@Reckless
You will regret it.
