Former AKB48 singer Atsuko Maeda, 24, was involved in a traffic accident Sunday after the car she was driving hit a taxi in Tokyo.
According to police, Maeda, who is now an actress, was driving along a three-lane road in Kasumigaseki at around 5:15 p.m. Sunday when her car scraped against the right backside of a taxi in the left lane beside her, Fuji TV reported. Neither Maeda nor anyone in the taxi were injured, police said.
Maeda issued an apology through her management agency on Monday afternoon. She said she was sorry for any trouble she had caused.

"Maeda issued an apology through her management agency on Monday afternoon. "
What's worse, the through-your-management-apology or the on twitter apology?
wontond
Both the apology and this story are unnecessary.

Non news.
Yawn.

So glad to hear Acchan isn't hurt! I am surprised this is even news or that she had to apologize about it. She's not in AKB anymore, so the idol standards I would think don't really apply? Either way, I wish her good health and better luck driving!
Wakarimasen
Thank goodness she wasn't hurt. i have no evidence for this, but bet it was the taxi driver's fault. some of them drive terribly. And Acchan is probably a superb driver. Why haven't we had an apology from the taxi company??
nath
You admit you have no evidence, but feel confident enough to declare that it was probably the taxi drivers fault, because some of them drive terribly, and that Acchan is probably a superb driver even though you have nothing to support this assertion. Seems legit.

Sometimes it's good to see boring "non-news" because it usually means there's nothing more horrible to report about.

Yawn....

Stranger I think Wakari was being sarcastic....

If she was your average "Keiko" it wouldn't have been news. But she "was" in AKB, that supposedly makes her important.
Wakarimasen
Stranger Irony is obviously not a common feature of JT posts.

@Wc
Your "average Keiko" would be in her sixties now with a name like that....
Makes me feel old : (

It makes the news item one that people are more interested in reading than if it were your average Keiko.
Steve Crichton
This is news????? What was she doing? Makeup, texting, lighting a fag or all 3.

She's the only little clone out the 1,000 of those little girls that I liked. Glad she's okay.
What I find really amazing is the fact that people who obviously have no wants or needs for idol news items always take the time to make a smart ass comment AFTER they read the news article. If it's not news why are you reading it?

Wakarimasen
Steve Yes it is news. Same as Harrison Ford crashing his plane or Christopher reeve falling off a horse. we almost lost a talented and popular person.....

If someone scraped my car I'd expect an apology, so good on her.
Why are people saying this is non-news? Tabloids are full of showbiz stories, no matter how unremarkable those stories are - why should JT be any different?
nath
Who cares?
nath
Apparently you do.

Glad she is OK! She was not only in AKB48.. she was also one of the rhythm guitarists... Loved her song "Time Machine". She still is very active with AKB48. Even though she is no longer a standing member.... she is still connected to the group.

I know why she had a bump in her car, she was trying to Google ME! and get my tell number and to ask me out for dinner! ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well I can dream can't I ?
Monozuki
Hope it'll be a blessing in disguise for all of them.

What's the media value of all this free publicity?
haiyai
Who???
JT please stop trying to make them relevent...
nath
It's not JT - AKB48 and Atsuko Maeda are very famous, and that has almost nothing to do with JT. Their influence is just not that big in the greater scheme of things.
