Former porn star Ai Iijima found dead at Tokyo apartment

Former television personality Ai Iijima was found dead at her condominium unit in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on Wednesday afternoon, less than two years after she announced her retirement from show business, police said.

Iijima, 36, was found lying in the living room in casual clothes and with no obvious injuries, police said, adding they believe she either died of an illness or committed suicide. An autopsy will be conducted on Thursday.

Iijima's body was found around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday by an acquaintance who paid a visit to the condo after Iijima had stopped responding to communications from her several days ago. The acquaintance had the resident manager open Iijima's unit on the 21st floor of the condominium building.

Iijima gained popularity in the 1990s as a variety show host and for other roles. Her autobiographical novel ''Platonic Sex,'' published in 2000, became a bestseller and was made into a movie as well as a television drama.

In 2006, she made public that her health was not good due to a kidney disease and other problems. She announced her retirement in March last year, saying, ''It is impossible to survive in the entertainment industry if I cannot find my goal and dream, and cannot keep trying.''

Apparently she had some kind of mental illness also. Anyone heard about the details?

Ah... that is shocking and sad. RIP my friend.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Sad!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This is really too sad.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Too bad - she used to make much better comments and repostes on TV than most of the so-called "good university" girls and the omnipresent vacuous "bijin ana."

She came a long way from her abuse as a teenager, pornstar and Gilgamesh night, and had almost achieved respectability...... May her spirit find peace somewhere...

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I liked her a lot. Too bad.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Media will be all over this, I will remember her kindly.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

She definitely committed suicide. A couple years back she quit the entertainment business completely, then had serious trouble last year whether or not to reenter the business (even visiting that crackpot psychic on regular Japanese TV). In the end, she decided to stay out, but she seemed extremely stressed out over the whole affair.

Anyway, the poor woman was sick, and while I'm saddened that yet another person has felt the need to take his/her life, I'm not entirely surprised to hear it wasn't murder.

RIP.

RIP

According to the news she had some health problems, with her kidneys. Could be a similar case to the Zard woman who had cancer and decided to top herself.

R.I.P - wish JT had 'obituary' coloumn.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Everyone has to live with their past, but some ghosts play hard. Her ghosts played very hard. She could not live with them anymore. I think it shows clearly that some people love to be in porn but some are forced into it and loath themselves afterwards. Her ambition to be taken seriously was thwarted by those who exploited her noterioty.

AIDS.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

How sad. I may just have to go out and rent one of her videos for old time's sake. Bye-bye Ai-chan. The current AV crop can't hold a candle to you.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is bad news on Christmas! I think she was a good girl! Why always the best have to go early while some idiots seem to live forever. RIP, Ai!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow, I remember when she always used to be on TV

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is really sad. As some other have commented, Iijima had a pretty good head on her shoulders and a tongue like a knife. I used laugh at the way she cut people down to size. I particularly liked how she used to put the boot into a certain D.S. (everybody's favorite token foreigner on Japanese TV). She will be sadly missed. RIP.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She always warned the wide spread of the internet was the worst for her industry. A sad childhood then a sad and fateful adult life. She deserved much better, I think.

Possible AIDS victim.Sad though! http://sankei.jp.msn.com/topics/entertainments/2321/ent2321-t.htm

ai_sumo Your post on Christmas eve is completely RUDE. Think you have been in Japan too long. Perhaps you know first hand about AIDS. If that's the case, apologies. In addition, if not, start thinking in 2009!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Possible AIDS victim.Sad though! http://sankei.jp.msn.com/topics/entertainments/2321/ent2321-t.htm

Your Japanese sucks bigtime, if you think that article says anything about her having AIDS. It just reports a neighbor seeing her in the lift and behaving irrationally - barefoot and holding her boots - about a week ago.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She will live on in celluloid

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sad. She will be missed. Just goes to show you what happens in the end for Pornstars, Prostitutes and Strippers. They either overcome the daily trauma of that life or they slowly fade away. I think she died inside along time ago. It just took a while longer for her body to just give up as well. Sad, I've seen this before in the US. RIP Ai-chan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I understand that she has been dead for days. You would think that someone would have cared about her more to wonder about her whereabouts and discovered her sooner.

Very sad. When I first got to Japan she was very popular on TV. While I never really knew anything about her or paid much attention, she was still a part of my first impressions of Japan. Aweful news for Christmas Eve.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Oh dear, this was a shock. I never really liked her, but I would never have wished death upon her. I always thought she may have suffered something from her days as a porn star, but we, the general public, will never know for sure.

Yeah, she'll be missed, but isn't Suzuki Sonoko missed too?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

anything other than RIP is extremely crass

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She said once that when she died, she wanted to come back as a horse, I hope she will get her wish.

God bless and rest in peace Ai-Chan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow, she was such a part of the Japanese light entertainment world for a long time. I remember "discovering" her on Gilgamesh back in the early 90s (anyone remember that show?).

To be honest, I never really appreciated her very much but it is extremely sad to see a person go out in this style.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why are foreigners calling her Ai-chan ?? Too strange.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

RIP, very sad news at any time, but especially on xmas eve.

She seemed to have more brains and certainly more real-world experience than the typical mindless bimbo talent polluting Japanese TV these days.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Dang. Another legend bites the dust... BTW what's her real name again? Ishii Mitsuko? Ookubo Matsue??

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Why are foreigners calling her Ai-chan ??"

Why? Is it only allowed to be used by Japanese? I find it strange when Japanese people I know talk to me using Mr. followed by my first name.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She provided me with my first fascination with an AV idol soon after I arrived in Japan in the Navy in 1990.

After learning about her life growing up, I really respected her attempts to move beyond her first profession and establish herself as a star in the mainstream TV business.

It's a terrible shame to see this happen to her, but it was her life, and I hope she found some sense of accomplishment and fulfillment from the time she chose to have.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This is just so sad. She was a bright shining light that both used and fought the system for so many years. I will grieve for her tonight. I want to say more, but words fail me.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

My wife and I liked watching her, because her comments were pretty frank, not PC all the time. Shocked by the news, as someone else said, especially on Christmas Eve. The wide shows will be busy tomorrow, unfortunately. Sad. RIP Ms. Iiijima.

Come on posters!!!!

This was an ex-AV star, hardly a model I would like my daughter looking up to.

Her death is rather poetic about modern Japan, 38 year old woman who was unmarried and childless. Her tragedy is confirmation of the loser dog syndrome and that the kanji for a widow is applicable to other female social positions in modern Japan.

Her death will become the bogeyman saga for modern Japanese womenhood. Remember Ai chan? She was an independent, succesfull and wealthy woman, but look how she died. So next time Hiroshi kun, the social deficent otaku salary drone asks you marry him with his sister's knickers wrapped around his head, gladly accept his offer and the future of 25 years in a one room company dorm because you wouldn't want to end up like Ai chan, would you?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Awful news for Christmas Eve"

I agree.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Right Dogdog, she was not a "model" but i will still think this is a very sad way for her to die...RIP Ai-chan !

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarge -- agree completely as well. Hope she finds the peace in whatever afterlife she may have that she apparently never found here.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I respected her. She was human, warm and intelligent, and she had principles. I am sorry that she died alone. Perhaps people put her on a pedestal, thinking she was some kind of unattainable Goddess, when all she really wanted was someone honest and caring to share her life with.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Lots of sass and a great laugh. Too bad.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

For awhile she was the most fascinating woman on TV. I was sad when she retired her celebrity, doubly sad to hear about about her passing.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

JT, could you show some class?

This person completely turned her life around from porn to the highest success. All the things she's done and you have the audacity to print "former porn star?"

Not cool.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

R.I.P. Iijima-san. The world dealt her a pretty bad hand, and she played it like a champ. I'll miss her. I really will.

Taka

0 ( +0 / -0 )

moonbeams give it a rest. her celebrity was a result of her being a porn star which provided her both the credibility and nerve to speak about things normally out of bounds within Japanese society. JT in this case, is just doing its job.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Rest in peace, I believe that ghosts from her past is too much for her to bear, it could be worse if others intentionally play them up. I respect her effort to change her profession but then I guess people won't want to let go of her past for various silly reasons, and this is the result.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

...most people do not understand kidney problems. Sex life drops to zero... Sex desire drops to zero...

What shee needed was good friends... not insecure dreams!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She was definitely more interesting than then typical talentos.

Her death is strange, but I am sure we will hear all about in the J-media in the next few days.

Absolutely spot on.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I actually had the privilege of meeting her once about 12 years ago. It was a very rainy day of torrential proportions and I decided to pick up a few vids on the way home. This was in Itabashi at my small local video store before the chains took over.

I knew the owner slightly and when I entered the store he quickly told me to come with him. He took me to the back of the store where all the "adult" videos were and introduced me to a stunning young woman who was there for the day to promote her latest work.

At first I was a bit dumbfounded and my tongue seemed to be stuck in my throat, but she was very personable and any ice was quickly broken, In the end we talked for close to an hour, no not about porn, she spoke of her dreams, the difficulties of the industry, her childhood, and she also listened to me as well.

I was happy that the rain kept people away as I will never forget that uninterrupted hour of conversation. Yes, we did in the end swap phone numbers, but at the time I was involved with someone else. We never contacted each other after that night.

I did notice her and was quite happy when for a time she became a popular commentator and had moved on from her work of the early days. I never quite understood the reasons for her dropping out of sight a few years ago.

I did and do remember that beautiful person I had a chance to meet if only for a short time those many years ago, because of the rain.

Rest in peace.

Coroner will examine her beautiful body on how she died. She seemed to be dead of illness. There was no sign of violence in her room.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Talent, former porn star Ai Iijima found dead at Tokyo apartment." is a better lead story, shame on you JT.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

she also listened to me as well

it does not get worse than this.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I will never forget that uninterrupted hour of conversation.

I dont speak to my mum for an hour...

Nevere knew the lady, never heard of her, meaningless

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Never heard of her before seeing the story on NHK BS News ("San-ji BS Newssource desu!"). That said: Bobbafett, you're taking this rather personally, aren't you? "Methinks the (bobba) doth protest too much". Seems like kind of a waste of energy to dump on this woman's grave like that. She certainly didn't have that porny appearance, or crack-sunken cheeks. And she managed to turn a dead-end, life-and-spirit-sucking career in porn into a book deal and spin-offs, so she at least deserves a little congratulations for managing to rise above that morass. So, some are accusing her of committing suicide because she couldn't write act three? I got news for you.. there are going to be a few more suicides in the collapsing economy. Hating and dumping on people isn't going to improve things one bit.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

hey bobba you're the only one here trying to hack her down.

99% of the comments here so far have been supportive and understanding of her. i remember her too, in both phases of her life, she always gave everything she had to stand out and make a difference.

japanese society, as much as other developed societies in the world, has gone down the crapper pretty bad, and she is just one of the victims.

i can't think what would be sadder, that she took her own life or that she died of health problems alone in her place. she didn't deserve any of that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

May her soul RIP.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Half of JT doesn't even have the integrity to respect the dead. Typical.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This might just be a case of death by natural causes. Quite a number of her blog postings seemed to complain of poor health (worse than when she stepped away from the geinou in 2006). One photo looks like she is getting her hair done and she jokes about how it looks like she has alopecia areata (hair loss).

Half of JT doesn't even have the integrity to respect the dead. Typical.

What comes around goes around. Karma usually has a way of taking care of classless and disrespectful people like that.

RIP Ms. Iijima.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Oh really- I assume you beleive in the 'law of averages', too.

regardless. rest.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She always had a kind of sadness about her.

I think she just wanted a normal life, but found it impossible with everyone knowing her past.

RIP

RIP, Ai

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Isn´t the JT headline unfair? Yes, she started with porno movies, but by the time she left the enterntainmant business, she was on the Japanese TV circuit in all sorts of wide shows etc., often as a commentator. And not the worst one of the lot, I must say.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WilliB - I agree with you 100% on that one, but the site is here to get as many clicks as possible and probably putting the words "porn star" will direct more clicks and links to come here.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

JT has reached a new low by including "former porn star" in the headline. That could be said, but generally isn't said, about so many famous people.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm very sorry to hear of her death. I've always enjoyed seeing her on TV and I shall miss her. She was a beautiful lady who gave pleasure to many. It's unfortunate that those who cannot empathize have to exploit news of her death with brash or snide commentary.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I no longer watch J TV programmes but remembered her in those years always hiding her real age....but my J friend thinks she's about her age based on her conversations..which is 40 now....oh well..RIP Miss Iijima..!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Too bad they used the word "pornstar" in the headline. They could have used the word "entertainer". It is like focusing on the main negative aspect of her career. Respect for the dead and less sensationalism would be nice for a change.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ick.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

RIP. She was one of my fave, even had that platonic sex on dvd.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"who gave pleasure to many."

LMAO! THAT, she did.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm sure the morning TV program "Sunday Japon" will do a special on her this coming Sunday. She was a regular member years back before her retirement from the "geino kai". You can be sure there won't be a dry tear in the studio. But to me she seemed to symbolize the 90s in Japan somehow--a figure representing excess and crass materialism, but also redemption.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Geez...she was a drug addicted former porn star...from some of these posts you would think she was Mother Teresa.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She certainly did not deserve such an early death.

She was greedy and ambitious and stopped at nothing, including seducing legions of producers and directors, in order to make it, in both the AV and idol worlds. (Which sort of overlap)

You people are hypocrites with your RIP maudlin crocodile tears - You don't give a damn about her. You are titillated by the fact that her main claim to fame is group sex. Admit it.

Becoming a talento does not redeem anyone - it's more of the same crassness.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"...Iijima gained popularity in the 1990s as a variety show host and for other roles..."

Come on readers, she was not a saint - she was a problem child who abused drugs and sold herself to willing buyers.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No one is saying she was a saint. All I was saying is that she seemed to represent her times, much of it sleezy and downright dirty, no doubt. She was iconic in that sense. But blame the public for allowing her to come back--no pun intended. They were the ones who made her into a bestselling author.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

CAVEMAN--jealous much? My wife says she was a person who never shrank away from the truth and never caved into politics. I would wager she has had a very positive influence on Japan, despite your narrow moralizing, than you and people like you could ever dream to have.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

what is wrong with you?!--- CAVEMAN

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I loved Ai Iijima, she was a breath of fresh air in the stale, run of the mill Japanese tv shows, I will really miss her. By the way, I never new she was a porn star and now I still do not believe it. She will always be my Japanese tv angel!

Uhm.. weird, if my memory really don't suc* a few years ago another ex-jav actress died strangely, but maybe i am mistake...

CAVEMAN - better doing in public (if she wants) that pretend to be pure and just sell for little success on tv to some producers..

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I for one have much more respect for Ai than many of the politicians of today, reguardless of her past she was a great entertainer.

It is certainly a bad call by the media to headline it with "Former Porn Star".

Also equally sad she died alone, where maybe she could have been saved.......Dam same and a terrible loss.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Potsu, "Geez...she was a drug addicted former porn star...from some of these posts you would think she was Mother Teresa."

Well, she didn't have the body of Mother Theresa, but she did have the heart, and a bubbly personality on top. To me she was a saint, despite what anyone says. (Think of the lotus, which grows up out of the muck, to make the world a brighter place.)

Her death makes the world a sadder place. May her soul rest in peace.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

She was a selfish and immature kook who got by on her looks and uh, certain feminine "skills". She was also a nutcase. You people need new heroines and heroes, like single mothers and hard-working fathers in low-paying jobs, rather than celebrity tramps. And I mean that she was a spiritual tramp who personified BASE and CRASS values.

I'm not going to judge her past as AV actress or say anything about how succesful was her mainstream entertaiment career, nor she was a good model or bad model for society or youth (japanese or not), neither if she was a good person, because i never met her. But one thing i could say is she was a human being, she was alone, no matter if she had friends or not, famous or not, nobody was worried about where she would be or what she would be doing, all that famous friends... who told her not to quit entertaiment bussines, NOBODY... her body was found a week after she died, then there wasn't anybody who missed her, so... she never had the chance to say goodbye to anybody and had no one to take her hand, to comfort her in agony (if she had)or say any pray before she exhale her last breath, this was miserable... and nobody should die in this way, without a chance to say "i'm sorry" to the people we hurted or "i love you" to somebody. This makes me feel sad, no matter if she was a AV actress, TV celebrity, model, woman, daughter... she was a human being, this is the only reason because she deserves some consideration. Find some peace wherever you are Matsue, if there is a place where our souls go after death, if not... anyway i celebrate your life hoping you enjoyed the beauty of this life in the perfume of every flower you found, in the shine of every sunny day... in LOVE, if you LOVED someone, and even in the bad things of this life what made you fight for survive, no matter if you did right or wrong. Resquietcat In Pace, we will follow you someday...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Who are of us to judge her and her life? Or who she was. No says she was a siant nor are any of the posters here. Her life was a tragedy. Clearly, for all her success she was deeply unhappy and showed it in her public appearances. So go ahead and hate the life she led, but don't hate the person. And while you're at it why don't some of you think about how you'll be remembered when you're gone and someone writes your obiturary.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

immature kook who got by on her looks and uh, certain feminine "skills".

There's different ways of looking at pornography. My Dad once commented, with respect to strippers, "Well if they can get guys to pay to see them take it all off, I say more power to them."

When I quote that line to women they always find it empowering, whereas men are a little embarrassed because it underscores women, through their bodies, have power over them.

The allure of a beautiful body, of course, has a shelf life and everyone knows that. We all age, but it's a more difficult transition for women for whom looks play a more important role in life than for men, regardless of your profession.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"...What's with this style of headline JT? Pretty damn vicious thing to do to someone who just died and hasn't been involved with "porno" for years..."

Her having been a pornographic actress is what she was all about. Her entire "talento" career was 100% based on her having been a pornographic actress who engaged in group sex with many men at the same time.

Get a grip, you people. She was a porn actress, period!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Matsue Okubo's death is comment unto itself. Really, you need to understand that she came into this world as a baby, grew up and then shaped by us, society at large. We ignored her plea for help.

Next time you are walking around Shibuya or Shinjuku, take a look at those lost souls, the people who have no direction, goals or aspirations. I often wondered why adults are mixed up in child's life.

The penalty of not taking care of you children is someone like Iijima Ai. Her good looks got her far but nobody, her parents, her relatives, her "friends" or even the medical community (her doctor) did not monitor her close enough.

I bet if we look a little further into this case, it will be shown that Halcion (an opiate, like meth) her unhealthy life style, staying out late, not getting enough rest, alcohol consumption (mixed with prescription drugs) followed by a bad liver is the reason she died.

If you read her blog, there are cries for help all over the place. Her photo with a 10 yen coin size of hair missing, her weird rants that a mental health professional would pick out straight away.

Who cared? Her "friends". Mikawa Koji? The Gilgamesh Night crew? Her fans? Who is accountable for the meds that where given? Was she monitored? How can someone living in a community like Shibuya, Tokyo die alone without anyone giving a minute of their time?

Let us accept that it is a tragedy and comment about our society and how people surrounded her just for the money and society turned it's back.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Let us accept that it is a tragedy and comment about our society and how people surrounded her just for the money and society turned it's back.

Celebritydom is a doubled aged sword. The money ensures you will never be out on the street but it also makes it hard to have meaningful relationships which ultimately sustain most people through bad times.

I always thought "celebrities" were an American invention but it seems they have an entrenched place in Japanese society as well. When I go to Taiwan, where Japanese TV programming is popular, much of it is "idol shows" in which the content is wholly developed about the persona of the big-name star. Kinda shallow and empty.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Double ick.

Caveman is my hero. I don't know how or why you people can be so traumatized by this. "Get a grip" indeed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I hope I get found in less than a week. And not by the crows.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Actually what took her mainstream is her writing a book.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Some of these post's are pathetic...she had choices, this is Japan, she chose to be a porn star, society didn't "choose" it for her.Get a grip people.

I am frankly amazed at all the nasty things CAVEMAN is saying about Ai. He talks as if he knew her personally. If this turns into a murder investigation, we may have a suspect already...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

likeitis - CAVEMAN is a lawyer. It's his job to say nasty stuff about Ai.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Geez, where does all this hatred come from? Among all the brain-dead "talents" on Japanese TV, why do some people here single her out for criticism? In the context, she actually stood out in positive way. Weird.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm lawyer and would never say such a thing like CAVEMAN... it only shows a very low appreciation of the value of a human being, no matter what she did, right or wrong she was a PERSON and her memory deserve some respect.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

omarbabilion - Sorry to have painted all lawyers with such a broad stroke!

This is a sad story.

I feel very, very sorry for Ms. Ai Iijima, and I can't understand what of family she had. She was dead for about 1 week in her room? Her mom or her dad did not bother on calling her? This is a very sick and dirty society (not only Japan) this kind of horrible news could happen in London,LA,Rio de Janeiro etc..we should try to make some positive value from her unfortunate death. RIP Ai chan!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

All the bad coments........ Well If I was a slut would you all talk so highly of me. This whore and dont forget she was, tried to say she never had penitrating sex on them vids. She didnt right the book till after she started regular TV, Im not positive but I think she was urged by spector to write it. Like I say I dont have first hand knowlage of her life but I have a few vids of how she lived it.

Why do people have to use foul language to describe such women? They are the very ones who use/abuse them, and then look down on them afterwards. Maybe they are looking down on themselves? Trying to stamp out something inside themselves that they feel is a weakness? It's self-perpetuating.

There was a clean part of Iijima Ai that no-one managed to touch, not even the rapist in her childhood.

Sorry you get what you give, plenty of young women have done the right thing and some have not. Ai wasnt a poster girl for do the right thing.

I have no idea why I feel so depressed after hearing her death. Maybe I watch AV.... Also, I think some people here should stop arguing and give her some respect. RIP Ai-Chan

There was a clean part of Iijima Ai that no-one managed to touch, not even the rapist in her childhood

I expect the reason she did herself in was because she couldn't find this 'clean part' herself, whether it existed or not. RIP but pause the Saintification

get a fresh box of tissues and you can either stem back the tears or start to 'respect' a new actress instead

Who gave you the right to judge someone else's life?..., anyone is free to do whatever they want with their life, nobody is sanctificating her life, even if she had any morl value in her life, it doesnt matter, the point is she passed away and probably in a miserable circunstance (for any person i guess). Nobody is showing some respect because she was famous or AV actress..., people show some respect because the fact she was a human being, thats all.

LOL thats a good one.. but mean T^T. BlackFlag A life is a Life whether you spend it crying or laughing. This was her life and its unfortunatly ended so soon with her being so young. Whatever the reason for her death, Rest in Peace Ai Iijima.

in this you sound angry? omarbabilon i agree. nobody can judge somebody elses life, what people appear to be may not always be who they acually are. Always give somebody the benifit of the dought... thats what i believe atleast. But try not to be angry with the people who dont think like yourself, they are merely expressing there opinion as you are yours and i am mine. ^^

" Like I say I dont have first hand knowlage of her life "

So why do you pontificate about it here.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

LOL thats a good one.. but mean

nothing mean about it, if you feel depressed about her death because you watch a lot of AV then a box of tissues is a useful thing to recommend. good for crocodile tears too. yes she died, RIP. lots of other people died during the 2 minutes it took me to type this. RIP them too.

It is always sad when someone so young dies,at a time of year when most have the support of family and friends. Her childhood and family life were not good,I hope she had found some inner peace.RIP,let your friends remember your smile.

DXXJP

Like I say I dont have first hand knowlage of her life but I have a few vids of how she lived it.

So you don't approve of her being an AV star, but have no regrets about owning some AV videos? Talk about hypocrisy!

May Allah bless her soul. So sad that she suffered from health problems despite having so big name in industry and big pocket money.

RIP.

I do not understand all the fuzz about the JT headline. It may be not sophisticated, but it is much better than the plastic headlines you see in The Japan Times - which seems to be written by Japanese who can type in English. Those who are shocked, visit TJP and probably you will see something like this "kawai talent died embracing bear Pooh".

She may have done some mistakes in her past life.. but who has not ? Just give her respect that she deserve, and please stop this criticizing thing. May you rest in peace Ai chan.....

I feel so sorry for this woman. I do not really know anything about her, but of what value is "former porn star"? No one, no one is a "star" in porn; that is a bad joke. No matter what reason a person gets involved in pornography, ultimately is a terrible thing-- yes, that's right, I am judging. She was a person who had a mother and father, maybe friends, maybe other family, I don't know. It's just such an insult that this is what she's left with "former porn star"; yeah, whatever, she was in some porn movies -- I'm sorry, people get one thing in their thick heads and cannot think anything else. Otherwise, I agree with LostinNagoya who says that TJT is written by Japanese who can type in English; except for articles it "imports" from "foreign reporters" or "foreign magazines" everything else in it can be summed up as follows: "he said with a smile"; "reckoned"; "critter"; "it will take two weeks to heal"; "wining and dining"; and other pointless "sayings".

May Ai-chan rest in peace and may she be remembered for a human being first, because contrary to some people's opinions, that's what she was.

No one can judge another person's life? What rubbish. One needs to judge with care and compassion, but certainly judgments can be made.

There is nothing to judge here except the inaneness of the comments. Is there a problem because she had sex? Because she had sex on tape? Because she got paid for it? There is not a woman alive that has had sex that has not done it to better her position either emotionally or financially. It was a job, nothing more and nothing less.

R.I.P

This woman lived out her life just as GOD dictated it. This is what we all do.

Ah, here we go again. The standard "everyone dies so why feel sorry for someone you've never met before" cliche. How about this: the article is about Ai, not anyone else who is dying at the moment, which means that -people are going to post about her and no one else. Don't pretend to be so ignorant that you don't understand this. Don't be so ignorant that you can't be sorry that another human being passed away much too young.

dont be so ignorant that you can't read and selectively ignore all context to my post.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I said RIP several times but found the tears flowing from some posters here shockingly incosistent with their heartlessness/ignorance of far more tragic events and some posts just absurd. you don't get it, I don't care

Not if you're a free thinking athiest who realises that a person is more than a pre-determined drone who must have blind devotion to fear-mongering 'god'.

That aside, I found her very interesting and quite insightful with more than a few of her comments and opinions, even if I didn't agree with all of them. A sad loss indeed.

She didn't care about anybody. That's why nobody cared about her. End of story!
