Truth to the allegations, or not, this is a sad stain on the otherwise wholesome legacy of Fred Savage. - His Kevin Arnold, friends Winnie Cooper and Paul Pfeiffer of The Wonder Years were some of the most relatable characters in American TV history any parent could trust their children to watch. Truly sad about this turn of events.

- “20th Television did not immediately provide any additional details. A spokesperson for Savage did not immediately reply to a request for comment.” -

A follow up story would be appreciated. Would like more information about the specific allegations and Savage’s comments if and when they come.

Huh. My family lived in Montgomery, Alabama in the late 1960s. Never watched either show. We did spend a bunch of time in the forest behind the house investigating the world, at least before I-85 was built. I have few memories of those years - too young.

Rebooting already made shows/movies == an industry lacking any original ideas. Fred, it's a blessing in disguise.

The re-boot is exactly the reason why film and television are unwatchable in 2022.

The original was wholesome, charming tv that the whole family enjoyed.

The re-boot will be more of the vicious, politically-charged divisiveness from current day Hollywood that we have come to expect.

I'm all for seeing shows with a black cast, but why remake The Wonder Years. It doesn't do the new series any justice. Why is Hollywood or US intent on having to do everything again but with different colors? Do something new.

Yes. do something new. There's been plenty, scads of original and good TV shows with black casts (or mostly black casts) in the past. That's nothing new. Reboots generally suck. You just can't recapture the old magic.

I see Hollywood is still going with the guilty until proven innocent when allegations arise.

The new series revolves around a Black family living in Montgomery, Alabama, in the late 1960s.

And the black washing continues.

Thefu, I watch all the episodes, you can catch it on Hulu

The show was entertaining for the time when it was aired originally, but even without these scandals I see little point in making a revival now, it seems like a recycling of ideas without putting too much effort in coming up with something new that do not depend on fans of the original show, like fuller house.

Thanks, but I lived it. Reliving daily life isn't something I find too interesting.

I thought the new version was a take on the black family experience during the same period? That would be very different in the late 1960s south than what other cultural groups would experience in the same period.

In America, each sub-group has a slightly different culture from race, religion, where they immigrated from and where they end up living. Every move adds to the culture for that family. There isn't just 1 or 10 cultures in America. There are hundreds of millions.

And the black washing continues.

Continues? What are the other examples.

"The Wonder Years"? I suspect the 'wondering' will be quite different and way less 'wonderful'...

Supposedly the original show was canned in 1993 when Fred was 16 and attacked a wardrobe woman and harassed her to have an affair with him. Take it from there and try to do the math, if you want to.
