A true hero, a legend of world cinema, a rare genius. RIP.

I studied him .
One of his "devices " was to show the film as a construct....a post modern idea whereby the actual tools of film making process, including editing, or even showing a cameraman at work on the film , were available for the viewer to see.
Unlike a Hollywood film where the film tries to provide a reality and not refer to itself as a "film ", but a slice of real life.
Vale.

but I’d rather sit through any one of his movies than watch another stupid, imagination-deficient Marvel franchise product.
Yes Godard levels above the Hollywood hit-making machine.

Godard's cinema, a symbol of the Sixties cultural revolution and youth rebellion is no longer, but he was a game-changer and his influence on cinema will continue in subtle ways for future generations of filmmakers who see themselves as creative artists.

My condolences. He was part of the last great French generation. I don't know what happened to French society in the last 35 years, no one stands out anymore today. Hopefully the French will make a great socially comeback but I don't see that happening any time soon.
