Zappa was a quintessential American personality and his tragic early death was for me the greatest loss to American music culture in my lifetime. Had he still been with us in 2015-16, he might have even put himself forward to challenge Trump's candidacy and Trumpism would have provided enough material for a cornucopia of Zappa albums to send up and discombobulate the "stable genius" himself.

I'll always treasure the one time we briefly met and the new film will help to celebrate a "Franksgiving" with memories of a man whose premature demise I still mourn.

Are you kidding? Frank would have loved the Trump presidency. He hated hypocrisy, and loved acts that upset the status quo.

Are you kidding? Frank would have loved the Trump presidency.

Yes, for the "gift-that-keeps- giving" looney tunes of Trump's jaw-dropping ignorance and incompetence as Potus which would have provided Zappa with a big fat butt for ire and satire expressed in his trademark scurrilous and scatalogical humor.

He hated hypocrisy, and loved acts that upset the status quo.*

Again yes, but Frank had no time for repressed Republicans who tirelessly lust to impose their "one-size-fits-all" hypocritical puritanism on American society. Neither could he have stomached a grifting RINO like Trump whose transparent anti-establishment attitudes and private perversions would never have offended Frank so much as his egregious mendacity and "holier than thou" hypocrisy. Trump's style of upsetting the status quo has come with a hefty cost in human life, a fact Zappa would have never condoned by his silence.

Half my ipod is filled with Zappa cds.

Frank already wrote the perfect line about our outgoing golfer-in-chief...

"Cuz what they do, In Washington...They just take care of Number 1....and number 1 ain't you...you ain't even NUMBER 2"

Can't wait...Love ya Frank

He was quite a contradictory person, at times and there are band members who felt resentment at being chucked out of the (different incarnations) of the band when he was done recording/touring. That said - they all admitted that their time with Zappa was the peak of their creativity.

It's really hard to categorize the man's music. From avant-garde, to doo-wop, to jazz, guitar instrumental, to rock, pop etc. What a legacy, what a singular and great artist. Look forward to the doc.

True he was a libertarian at heart. But repressed "one-size-fits-all" hypocritical puritans seem to be predominantly on the left these days.

“Republicans stand for raw, unbridled evil and greed and ignorance smothered in balloons and ribbons.”

One quote taken from decades ago, when the parties were quite different from today. That said, Frank would not be aligned with any political party. I just said he would enjoy the Trump presidency.

Zappa lives on. It can only get better from here...
