While the movie was extremely successful in the USA (including two Oscar wins for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song), I think even Disney was unprepared for how extraordinarily well the movie did in Japan (where the official Japanese movie title is Anna and the Snow Queen). Try getting any goods related to this movie in Japan--they sell out very quickly.
One wonders if Elsa's character reminding people of the yuki-onna from Japanese folklore helped in the success of the movie in Japan.
