Fuji TV starts 'Kintame English' on YouTube channel

“Kintame English,” a new style of English lesson, has begun on Fuji Television’s official YouTube channel.

The lessons are a joint project by comedian Nagano and Nakayama, the author of the hugely popular series “Shiken ni denai eitango” (English which wouldn’t come up in tests), which has sold over 100,000 copies so far.

The lessons are based on typical situations you would experience at a TV station or while attending foreign guests. The conversation phrases are kind of quaint.

The new series streams every Friday on Fuji Television’s official YouTube channel. In a statement, Nagano stated, “I want to break into Hollywood by mastering this! Let’s practice!”

Speechless.

Well, it's different, I'll grant you that...

Working in cahoots with the Abe administration to "dumb down" the population even further!

Sounds like 'Kintama English' to me, a load of old bollocks.

If you think that is bad, there is another group using 'Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy' for their English lessons.

Bizarre and offensive subject matter, unlikely to prove helpful in any real-world situation, but one cannot fault the actual English. You can hear the embarrassment in the English narrator's voice, though.

I bet this is untrue.

The conversation phrases are kind of quaint.

What do you know? I was right!

I wonder if the ne-ti-bu voice model recorded before, during or after making the video in full cognizance of what was to be shown.

As usual, didn't seem like kaiwa English at all. 'Hmm! I think I shall go home and repeat today's lesson to my wife!' he thought to himself on the train 45 minutes before his demise.

It's pretty well written, in fairness. And probably more engaging (for some) than many of the classic writers.

Douglas Adams was a genius.
