And his opinion matters because....?

...because he has a huge platform, and on this issue, I'd want people like George and his platform to flatten Trump on what is the most detrimental decision made since Trump came to office.

In one dumb move he has cemented the notion that USA is NOT trustworthy. Can you imagine all the intelligence people working the various jurisdiction to keep America and the world safe, now have to contend that people they approach for cooperation thinks Russia is a more reliable partner?

The next time Trump abandons an ally, he will probably say its because they didn't help us at the Battle of Hastings.

In one dumb move he has cemented the notion that USA is NOT trustworthy.

I think the foundations were already in place when he withdrew from the Paris Agreement, the Iran deal and the support for Saudi Arabia following the murder of Jamal Khashoggie.

Not to mention his support for Putin after the Salisbury poisonings.

Because we now live in times when a comedian can become president of Ukraine. A reality TV star becomes President of the USA.

If people are tired of lawmakers being professional politicians, perhaps this well-spoken, intelligent actor, married to a world-renowned human rights lawyer should throw his hat in.

George Clooney aside, does anyone want to discuss the merits of what Trump said regarding the Kurds and Normandy?

Or shall we just stick with stock phrases like ‘Hollyweird’ ( not even slightly witty ) and ‘who cares’?

5 ( +9 / -4 )

On the plus side, normal people don't care what a Hollyweird actor thinks, or says, outside of a movie's dialogue.

There goes Ronald Reagan under the bus.

Judging a man by his profession alone is about as stupid as judging a book by its cover art. Next we will hear how Jesus was just a carpenter, Hitler just a failed artist, and Truman just a cheap suit salesman.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a waitress. Now she is a U.S. Representative. What are you?

I don't even think -3 years/months/weeks ago- Trump knew who the Kurds are let alone what they were doing/which side they fought for during ww2. Just another spur of the moment clueless comment.

Clooney is against walls but lives behind them, is against guns but is protected by them,

is against capatalism but hordes his millions.

hollywood hypocrite.

Actually, it's not such a strange comment by Trump. I remember my grandfather who was at Dunkirk complaining, 'Where in god's name were the Kurds when we needed them!' It's common knowledge the arrival of the Kurds was the thing Goering feared most in the Battle of Britain.

George who? Another so called irrelevant Hollyweird person with millions of twitter followers?

Providing military aid with no return is like paying a bribe with no return

Norman Goodman - There goes Ronald Reagan under the bus.

Reagan was a two-time President of the Screen Actors Guild, and twice elected Governor of California. That made him well qualified to serve eight years as POTUS.

George Clooney is well qualified to recite the words given to him by others. Democrats, and Hillary-worshippers, seem to like that. They also crave the "news" presented by late night comedians. Probably because they can't trust the "news" being highlighted by the CNN-types.

Ocasio-Cortez's leadership/campaign seems to be flailing ever since her svengali, Saikat Chakrabarti, was forcibly removed from her campaign.

trumpy just keeps on digging a bigger hole for himself. trump does not need s shovel, trumps mouth does all the damage, followed closely by trumps extraordinary low i.q.

whatever anybody says or doesnt it doesnt change the fact that Trump has abandoned an allie that has fought and died so American didnt have too. No matter how much you support or hate Trump it takes a special type of coward to abandon your friends and allies.

well how about FOX you know that organisation that recently polled that Trump should be impeached

and is the most corrupt administration to ever sit in the white house

but he still came from Hollyweird as many like to point out

What Trump said was pretty stupid regardless

Think about it - if anybody said that, you'd think what the heck is that person talking about

who cares what George Loony thinks or any other Hollywood goof

Go join and serve the military, run for office and do something for your country

or instead be quite and role play what the rest of us do for real

Lots of people, which is why I suspect it bothers you people so much having your team's moronity called out by them.

Mark Twain did neither. Harriet Tubman did neither. Fred Rogers did neither. Lucille Ball did neither. George Washington Carver did neither. Elizabeth Taylor did neither. And they all bettered America more than anyone I can think of in the last 150 years that operates within our disgusting government or kills people for a paycheck.

Clooney does charity and humanitarian work. He has worked with the U.N. and is a member of an American U.S. foreign policy think tank. He is more important and influential than a person who can only think politicians and soldiers benefit America can understand.

Oh, I definitely agree with that.

Go join and serve the military, run for office and do something for your country

or instead be quite and role play what the rest of us do for real.

Bingo!

I'm always amazed others getting their hate downs against people who spend part of their lives helping others often because of the failures and corruptions of governments.

And at the same time often hypocrites.

There are many "Hollywood goofs" who support Trump.

Yes and the liberal haters attack, ostracize, ridicule or make sure they don’t work because their intolerance to someone they like.

There are the Ted Nugents who publicly voice their support on Trump and various other causes. Kanye West is another Trump supporter. Both these have questionable events from their past. Ghosts in the closet.

Yes, but the difference with Nugent is, he supports Trump, but he’s an even bigger supporter of the second amendment which I deeply respect, but look at Kanye. Don’t like the guys music, find him odd, but he likes the President and before he supported the President, he was one of the biggest acts and after they found out he supports Trump then all the name calling and people wanting to boycott his music, so much for the so called tolerant left.

Reagan was governor of California for 12 years. That spells experience. And Trump? All he ever did before was steal, body-shame beauty contestants like the obnoxious sexist boor that he is, and shoot his mouth off like a kid. Like he does now.

Please make your mind up whether you want career politicians in the job or not. I thought you liked Trump because he wasn't one? Which is it? You must have been gutted when Trump got in before Hillary, what with him having no qualifications for the job and her having more than Reagan.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

yeah Loony lost his credibility when he declared with a smirk "Donald Trump will never be president"

Loony and the other loons were so confident, so elite.

The beard does him no justice.

zichi - I'm always amazed others getting their hate downs against people who spend part of their lives helping others often because of the failures and corruptions of governments.

There are many "Hollywood goofs" who support Trump.

And Loony Clooney certainly qualifies as one of the Hollyweird goofs.

If some people chose to vote based on the statements of an entertainer who makes their living by pretending to be someone else, they are free to do so. If some people are influenced by the words of someone who's best lines were written for them by someone else, that's their choice. The Hollyweird-types will sell themselves to anyone who produce their next project, or advance their careers, or allow them another few minutes of fame/attention.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

zichi - arrestpaul

I suppose an actor like yourself trained to repeat the same lines over and over again.

Shakespeare, Olivier, Loony Clooney, Hanoi Jane Fonda, and many of the millions of other talented people who make their living by getting you to believe that they are someone who they are not (i.e. lying), certainly are entertaining. That's their job.

The big question is why would anyone take the word of an actor/professional liar on any other subject? Unless, of course, you happen to agree with whatever nonsense they happen to be spouting.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

zichi - what proof of lies do you have?

You keep going on about Clooney has only an actor.

During his career as an actor, or as a reciter of other peoples words, Looney Clooney has pretended to be a doctor, an astronaut, a criminal, a con man, a football player, a comic book character, a soldier, etc.. Ol' George can pretend to be anyone you want him to be, providing you pay him enough. Clooney's most valuable asset is his ability to fool people into believing that he is/was actually any of the characters he was pretending to be.
