I've been following the pre-production of George Takei's "Allegiance - A New American Musical," via its Facebook page for a few years. I really hope I get a chance to see it soon when I'm stateside. It's got an amazingly talented cast. If you are in the San Diego/SoCal area, you should make every effort to see it. Takei-san, Omedetou gozaimasu!

Does anyone know if, at any point in the musical, he goes, "Oh Myyy." I would love to see that in person.

Dumb B F Word said "there are currently two major shows on TV with Asian American leads. Hawaii Five-0, Nikita."
Yeah, but any focused on an all Asian family, or other group, like this? We have had all White and all Black families as the center of shows, but not all Asian. And Maggie Q is half White and half Asian.
Funny thing is, if you need a reason, George Takei and Jay Kuo said it themselves!: “Asian-Americans don’t really speak an emotional language." and "...a culture that prides steadfastness and stoicism." Even the Asian-Americans are likely to change the channel!

Wait. I was wrong. hawaii Five-0 has THREE Asian leads. Daniel Dae Kim,Grace Park, and Masi Oka

Love George and I really loved his roasting of William Shatner.
Why did he roast Shatner? Cap'n Kirk was great and shatner is a multi-talented altogether good guy whoo appreciates both his strengths and his weaknesses. Sulu was a good character, but would have been NOTHING with Kirk and Spock.

Dum BF Word:
I'd hardly call Alex O'Loughlin Asian.

stop lumping non-Americans with Americans please.
Asian entertainers don't sell in America? WHOA NEWSFLASH! I wish all of East Asia would just boycott legal American media as a reprisal.

A hopefully light-hearted way to give the U.S. a gentle kick in the pants and reminder about "Liberty and Justice" for ALL, in the wake of three decades of the some of the most horrific human rights abuses in America's recent history.

Looking forward to it.
George is a great guy who don't take himself and his sexual orientation too serious. Met him once at a convention.

I'm really hoping to see this someday. I do adore George...and his "Happy Dance" too!

Well, Fiddler On The Roof wasn't exactly pastels and swinging parties, and that's done alright.
I really hope this does well - good for George T. for making his dream a reality on such a scale.
Just ridiculous isn't it. What's the matter with people?
