One the most profoundly influential and creative minds in television history. Right up there with Eiji Tsuburaya and Gene Roddenberry in the pantheon of true visionaries. UFO and Space 1999 are 2 of my most favorite series and had a huge impact on my childhood. His ability and talent in the 'suspension of disbelief' necessary for all great SF was the mark of immense genius. Thank you Mr. Anderson for entertaining so many little boys with your wonderful legacy.

RIP Mr. Anderson. I am proud to say that I have the entire "Thunderbirds" series and movies on DVD and I thank you for them.

Thunderbirds and Space 1999 were also my favourites.
It's a short biography, but surprisingly no mention of Sylvia Anderson, his(second) wife from 1960 to 1975 when so much of his excellent work was made.

Here's hoping "Heaven is Go!" for Gerry. Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, UFO, Space 1999, etc... his shows were a British boy's constant companion from the 60s on.

He brought joy to millions. A true genius, ahead of his time.

I don't mean any disrespect, but if he was "ahead of his time," that would mean we'd be seeing a great deal more "supermarionation" than we do today.
As a kid, I watched Supercar, his first major show. It was pretty crude. And what I saw of Fireball XL5 and Thunderbirds, really didn't impress me very much. Puppets lend themselves to humorous caricature, which is what made Team America: World Police such a funny film.
