The 5th Beatle, Billy Preston is being honoured BUT Paul McCartney is inducting a different band? That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

The Runaways? The Slits (mostly)? Women who were band leaders like the actually, truly great Chrissie Hynde? The main reason the Go-Gos get this kind of accolade is because a) they’re American and b) their pop-lite didn’t frighten the horses.

The Pretenders are already in the HOF, incl. Chrissie of course. As for the Go-Go's the idea of an all-woman rock band was unheard of/revolutionary in 1981. The Runaways were teens but Joan Jett is in the HOF as she should be. And she don't give a damn about her Bad Reputation, and she will let you know it! She always starts her sets with that song. I've seen her 3 times, I know.

Foo Fighters, who played a surprise gig at a small club in town on Thursday night, will be inducted by Paul McCartney

BUT Paul McCartney is inducting a different band? That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

A few years ago Paul played with Grohl and fellow ex-Nirvana mate Krist Novoselic. This was dubbed a 'Nirvana reunion' which it wasn't of course. Just like when George, Ringo and Paul promoted the Beatles Anthology the US media called that a 'Beatles reunion' which it really wasn't either.

As for Sir Paul indicting the Foo Fighters, given that past occurance - why not? What the hey?

You know what doesn't make sense? Who ever thought of the idea of that trashboy Kid Crock inducting Cheap Trick into the HOF, yet he did about 7 years ago. And he made a pompous ass of himself, as per usual.

The go-go's were a good band & MTV certainly helped, as it did lots of acts, they had their hits but I dont see them as hall of famers

Not a whole lot takes me back to the 80's like the Go-Gos, especially My Lips Are Sealed. Congrats to them and the others inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Well, that's not entirely true, there were a few, but without a doubt the Go-Go's were THE main 80's band as well as the Bangles.

The Runaways were teens but Joan Jett is in the HOF as she should be. And she don't give a damn about her Bad Reputation, and she will let you know it! She always starts her sets with that song. I've seen her 3 times, I know.

Again, Joan Jett's biggest fame to claim is "I Love Rock & Roll" no doubt a true and timeless classic as well as her stint with the Runaways and "Cherry bomb." She does deserve it, however, the songs that she made were few, far, and between unlike the Go-Go's that produced a lot of hits and ruled over the first half of the '80s until Belinda left the band and started her own successful career that lasted over 2 decades respectively. They were extraordinarily instrumental in shaping the '80s landscape throughout the US, they deserve it without a doubt, and congrats to them.

George Martin has always been considered to be the fifth beatle

Correct. Billy Preston was hired help for a very short period.

I will never say anything bad about the Go-Gos. Never. They headlined the opening credits of the very important film "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" (We got the Beat!) Enough said.

Crissie Hynde fronting an all-male band is very different than an all-girl pop band. playing their own instruments, not just singing and shaking their bods. The Go-Gos made it big, and that's Big. It is, because it simply is. Even more so in the 80s. Their music was awesome, what's more.

Gawd Bless The Go-Gos!

Punks at the start,
