"I have been in the forefront of this battle longer than most of those voicing their opinions to win the right to sing our country’s anthem on a stage as large as the Super Bowl," Knight added.

Well said!

The anthem is not now being attacked. The National anthem has been under attack for decades. The only difference is that social media has made the fight more aware and it is now more easily coming to the attention of many people. The original national anthem is actually very racist. Although, certain parts began to be omitted. There was a huge incident in the 1940's where a Russian composer changed words in the Anthem because he could not agree with its original message.

The issue right now is not necessarily the National Anthem, but rather the NFL's treatment of its players. Why many people have since turned down the opportunity to sing the anthem or even associate with the NFL because of it.

She has absolutely nothing to defend herself against. She has been fighting for human rights and equality long before some of these people were even born.

Have at it Gladys; classic Motown!

'Glad it's Gladys' turn to sing the Anthem.

She will be awesome!

Will liberals ever give us a rest?

Will liberals ever give us a rest?

Nope. And when the economy collapses, after they finish a bout of crying and whining, they will turn on each other in Lord of the Flies fashion and finish destroying the country.

Gladys Knight has every right to sing it if she wants to sing it. Other artists have every right to stay away.

Goes both ways. It’s a freedom thing.

Some posters seem to not get that.

She can go ahead and do so. Then she can take a kneel or do the 'mic drop' like Jimmy Buffett did this week. It's freedom - and freedom to protest that our national social fabric is being warped, distorted, twisted , slurred and destroyed by a rottenness in our evil government's agenda.
