I dunno, compared to his work hosting the Tonys in past years, I thought he looked really uncomfortable with the material he'd been provided (and I don't mean the white cotton for those briefs). But he's a real showbiz trooper--make the best of it and keep things rolling!

Nothing will ever top Ricky Gervais as host!

What? No. No praise. Some clever word play jokes and the musical bit was cute, but no praise. He just presided over the lowest rated Oscars in like 6 years.
NPH, take the honorable approach, the Japanese way, bow, apologize, and resign from your Oscar hosting duties.

I think Billy Crystal was the best host, followed by Johnny Carson and Bob Hope (the good old days). Crystal was really at his peak in the early and mid-1990s when he inserted himself into a montage of clips from the nominated films and when he was wheeled onstage in his Hannibal Lector restraints.

I can only imagine the furor in the mass media had a black host stood there in his tighty-whities. You'd never hear the end of it! Sad, but true. Hollywood isn't exempt from old-school racism.

Comedians seem to make the best hosts
