Could kinda be expected when you have a 71 year-old starring in an "action" movie. Let's hope that is the only accident that he has during filming.

I saw Carrie fisher in a movie a few days ago. She was big. I wonder if she lost weight for the movie?

Age has not been kind to Mark Hamill. Is it getting a bit like the old Star Trek movie series??

Spoiler alert! It looks like there will be a garage door in the new Star Wars movie!!

The 71-year-old was hurt when a garage door fell and hit him at Pinewood Studios outside London, according to emergency services.

Please explain.

Do garage doors react in this manner if they detect a 71 year old person approaching and calculate optimum timing to detach and fall if said person continues their course and speed, or are you saying garage doors frequently fall on movie sets and old people fail to take evasive manoeuvres in time? Assuming they are not walking around in their pajamas.

In either case, one would think that Mr. Ford, given his many years of acting experience, would be aware of the dangers of garage doors, or if not full possession of his faculties, a aide could be spared to dissuade him from venturing near them.

“The man was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.”

Oh come on! Airlifted?! It is not like he was in a remote area, more importantly, is the garage door ok?

amazing that this made the front pages of a number of papers around the world. We really have become a celebrity obsessed culture. Plus apparently it was just twisted.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Wishing you a quick recovery Hans. May the force be with you!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Maybe it's good that the new film will have a twist in it. No one would want it to be a fractured affair.

Hans So Old.

Princess Greyer.

Reformed -- it was not a "gargage door" as reported hear. Do some homework and then try your sarcasm again.

As reported wear?

Hans So Old. Princess Greyer.

Luke Where's_My_Walker

Y old a

Y old A was always ancient anyway.

Dead Vader?

Personally Ford, Fisher and Hamill are too old and have changed too much even for a story 30yrs later. Can you say Expendables meet Star Wars.

Heard rumours that Palpatine is back, but let's see no more Vader, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Jabba, Bobba Fett(hear he gets his own movie as to other characters) and hopefully no more Jar Jar. Guess the Falcon, R2 and C3 will still around.

Any way get well soon Mr. Ford. And, pls, stop calling it SciFi, it is a Space Opera.

What "homework" would you suggest?

That I peruse every news site on the planet for news of Mr. Ford? Maybe I should subscribe to his Twitter feed and Facebook page just to be sure?

He IS Han Solo!! He will be fine!!

At 71 I thought that the zimmer frame or his wheel chair would of took the impact from the door!!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

JJ Abrams is no longer known for LOST?

In the pic.... Han Solo escort are Rambo and Sgt. Martin Rigs.

Cool....

It appears that his ankle was damaged by a door of the Millenium Falcon.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Did they carbon-freeze him again, and then air lift him to the hospital?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The garage door shot first!

I am not interested in the "Star Wars " type films but I like Harrison Ford in other films and wish him well with his sprained ankle. That was quite an "original" way to sprain it Sir ! Hope you'll be back on both feet very soon !

PS. It was the "garage door" that was too old, not Mr. Harrison...

For me as much as I love Star Wars the original series, it's main story was a closed one that followed the proverbial hero's journey to its completion. The prequels could have worked if they had been better written and directed focusing the on the rise and fall of a likable (and I stress likable) tragic hero.

The new series will probably make a bunch of money like the prequels did but I imagine it will be underwhelming even if they try the "much eviler bad guy than the last movie" approach.

I liked the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy left me wishing for more like the impression of the 1st trilogy. Clone wars was mixed so far not decided about the upcoming trilogy but don't expect much.

British reports are saying he has broken his ankle. For those who question Ford being to airlifted to hospital, it was because he was taken to the John Radcliffe in Oxford, not the local A&E, as they have a specialist fracture unit there.

True. But how many people breaking their ankles on the north thru west side of London in a day normally get transported by air ambulance to the JR in Oxford? Hope no one had a fatal accident while that air ambulance was in use for a broken ankle.

He's Han Solo... he'll pull through.

@It'sME,

It's been 38 years since Episode IV "A New Hope" was first released. This new film is obviously going to have NEW actors doing the action and the original cast in "elder statesman/stateswoman" roles (Han and Leia), as the current Jedi Master (Luke), or as the "dirty old man who gropes all the scantily-clad women in the Star Wars universe" (Lando Calrissian). :-)

It'sMe -- Exactly. Which was the point I was trying to make with my comment about a 71 year-old in an action movie, which Reformed and others took so literally. Hollywood has turned into nothing but sequels and the like, as you say. Even if it means bringing back a 71 year-old and surrounding him with younger stars to try to make it all work. Which to me is a crime, especially given the history of the Star Wars franchise.

Hmm. He looks pretty good here:

Ya gotta remember, he's gonna be like Obi Wan from A New Hope: Older, wiser. Try not to compare him with the boy who began and completed the Hero's Journey the first three ( I don't count Jar Jar 1, 2, 3 -- Yea, I'm one of "them")

Air lifted for a sprained ankle? Talk about 'A' list treatment.... even an ambulance is overkill for a sprained ankle!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Any door that attacks a 71 year old man is unhinged.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Magnus: Yes, you are correct. Just saying...
