The original is one of my favorite movies. Looking forward to the sequel.

Dude's still pumping out action films at 72. Hope this one's good.

This is interesting stuff. I saw the original at the theater thanks to my dad when I was too young to see R-rated flicks by myself and have been a fan of both it and Dick's novel on which it's based. I'm curious about whether or not the film will explore all the other themes from the book Scott ignored in favor of the replicant action and identity questions. Stuff about mental health and paranoia, the environment (somewhat addressed in the movie), religion and mass entertainment, any of which could have been used to make a distinctly different Blade Runner in 1982.

It's not Harrison Ford I'm worried about, it's Ridley Scott.
His last few films, Exodus, The Counselor, Prometheus, Robin Hood, Body of Lies... Dude does not seem to recognize a good script anymore.

Amazing he is still going at 72. One of my favorite all time actors.

Looking forward to this one. Note: Harrison Ford has never won an Oscar!

Harrison Ford is amazing, and I'm glad Scott is going to step in as executive producer, but I'm a little wary of them touching something already so perfect. I'm excited for it, and I pray they do a good job.

I thought the original hinted at Ford's character being a replicant , ie he shouldn't age?

I think Ford shouldn't take part of this sequel - which can't replicate (pun intended) the noir atmosphere of the original, which on the other hand was one the main reason Blade Runner was a hit. The ever rainy gigantic city, the sadness permeating the plot. It was so 1980s. The 2000s are tasteless.

I loved the first film, but please, Hollywood, leave it alone. Make something original instead. We've seen with the Alien and Tron "let's go back and make a sequel" efforts that they'll hash something together that will be kinda OK, make the money the studios want, but with no real effort put into it and a kind of ordinary script. Blade Runner doesn't deserve this.

A sequel for Bladerunner is a very risky business as the nerdrage for the best movie of all times will be gigantic. It's great to see Ford doing the role again but it looks like it's going to be an Indiana Jones IV Deja Vu with grandpa Deckard, not that I'm complaining.

In blade runner you end up figuring out he's a replicant, which is confirmed when i watch the movie with Scott doing a voice over in the directors cut. So how can Ford be used as he should not age? Maybe like in the Terminator movies with Arnold getting older…..
Love the original hope they don't muck it up. Plus Scott hasn't made a good movie for ages……
Fingers crossed.

I believe it was ambiguous as to whether or not he was a replicant. An early script had ended with him being one, but that script was not used.

It's the future! Gene treatment!

Pidestroika:
He's not alone with that. Jonny Depp, Sigourney Weaver, Ridley Scott, and a couple of other greats have never won an Oscar either. What does it mean? It means you can screw the Oscar without regret.

This is awesome! About time! I'm confident Ford can pull this off!
Will Rachel, the replicant Tyrell made with no life span limit and who became Deckerd's lover, played by Sean Young, come back as well?
And will the eyes maker Chew, played by James Hong, come back?
And will JF Sebastian, played by William Sanderson, come back?
And will Gaff, played by Edward James Olmos, come back?
And will Bryant, played by M. Emmet Walsh, come back?

I love Harrison Ford when he's in the right movie, but his acting chops are pretty weak. It was the sorta shy but cool and fearless leading man when he was younger. Now that he's older, he has morphed into the grumpy old man. Not much outside of that. I see him as more of a movie star than an actor.

Blade runner, my favorite science fiction movie... The sequel must really be top notch to even be worth mentioning in the same context as the original..

I am not going to watch it. Hollywood has a track record or ruining great films with "sequels" intended to milk cash cows. They should look for original scripts and leave well enough alone.

Still one of the greatest science fiction films ever made and surprisingly it still stands the test of time. It looks more like a William Gibson (the man who coined cyberpunk) movie than any others have.
FYI, "Bladerunner" was based on the Phillip K. Dick novel, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"

I watched Blade Runner once when I was younger and again when I got older; enjoyed the setting and themes of the story.
I hope this one turns out well.

I don't know what to say at this...
I mean I'd love for a "Blade Runner" sequel, but as I haven't read the book I'm not sure which direction it may take, as far as sequels, I'd rather have some that could be independent of the original movie, like Prometheus was for Alien (It was and wasn't at the same time a Prequel).
I don't doubt that Harrison Ford can pull it off, but the script is another thing, it will all comes down to the director (but please, don't leave it to MIchael Bay, though) I'm thinking some of the likes of Steven Spielberg... which incidentally directed "Minority Report" by Philip K. Dick

Is Vangelis boarding on this ship? Blade Runner is THE science movie thanks in part to that magic work that Vangelis created for the movie.

I read the sequel novel to 'Blade Runner' (film) and 'Do Androids dream about Electric Sheep?' novel (ostensibly!!!) (K. W. Jeter, Blade Runner 2: The Edge of Human (1995)), which was a bit gloomy, had an interesting scenario for physical injury and trauma therapy, yet had a happy ending.
I doubt Harrison Ford could reprise his role in a movie version of it, as the plot does NOT take place "several decades after"" the events in the movie.
So, Hmm, maybe the real drama will be among the different owners of 'rights' to the story and its different titles.
