Well deserved, Congratulations Sir.

Well deserved. Following this man's legacy, his last movie made me tear up, and I hardly ever cry.

Well done!

Miyazaki Sensei と Studio Ghibli . . . おめでとう御座います . . . Congratulations!

Congratulations to these well-deserved winners.

It's a shame that Perfect Days didn't get Best International Feature Film, as I thought it was excellent. I guess more "powerful" stuff like Zone of Interest will generally win at the Oscars, but I'd recommend Perfect Days to anyone who hasn't seen it: different, engrossing, and thought-provoking.

Nice way to cap off his final movie. The genius of Miyazaki is just a cut above, inspired the whole world without being overbearing nor getting in peoples faces . What true art looks like.

Agree with Isabelle above too. Perfect Days was a stunning piece of cinema, best film in years in my humble opinion. Even did a ‘toilet’ tour of Tokyo last week in its honor! You can even watch it for the soundtrack!

“Godzilla Minus One,” from writer-director Takashi Yamazaki, marked the first time the prehistoric reptilian monster was nominated for an Oscar in the franchise’s 70-year history

Congrats to Yamazaki-kantoku and Minus One, a great kaiju film and just great film.

Another milestone, he was the first director to win a VFX award since Kubrick and 2001. The new tools are opening up directions for creators who do not have Hollywood size budgets to have an oversized impact.

But in Japanese the movie is called 君たちはどう生きるか. Why can't "How do you all live?" be used as the English title? It is more thought provoking.

Because of the high reviews and now this Oscar, I should watch this movie.

Gotta learn man! He hs been saying it is his final movie from like 3 movies ago. The dude will probably keep going past 100 lol

The Godzilla VFX team was only 35 people with a shoestring CGI budget compared to the other films. Furthermore, unlike other Oscar categories, they had put a put on a technical presentation back in January for the Academy Members. Kiyoko Shibuya, VFX supervisor and producer, is only the third women to ever win in the VXF category.

Big congrats to the GOAT of anime -- Miyazaki Hayao - on the second Oscar! Unbelievable achievement.

Also a big up to all connected to Godzilla Minus One on their well-deserved Oscar. Huge year for Japan in film-making!

The BBC went with the headline.

"Oscars 2024: Japan's Hayao Miyazaki wins second Best Animated Film award"

Didn't know they had an award for second best animated film.

Probably helps that “second” isn’t capitalized in that headline.

Godzilla -1 deserved to win best visuals especially considering its budget. An amazing achievement. It's also a well written, acted, and directed film that has embarrassed Hollywood for good reasons.

Not much to say about Studio Ghibli. Same old basic Ghibli story with albeit some nice visuals in a year without much competition. Personally Blue Eye Samurai was more interesting and visually impressive for me but due to its late release date and especially its violent & sexual content was left out.

Anime gets a lot of attention and rightfully so but other animation productions from other countries are just as good or even better now.

Manga is overrated. Artists from around the world have been putting put out better fantastic work in the form of graphic novels for decades.

Congrats for the afore-mentioned films. Actually, I wanted to see "Perfect Days" win the best international feature film. I suspect that by giving the award to "Zone of Interest", someone (some people) wanted to make a statement against antisemitism.

Haven't seen Godzilla yet but it looks better than the last few.

Congratulations Mr. Miyazaki!

I have admired your incredible work for many years!

You are a master story teller, you are a creative genius!

God Bless you sir, and may you continue to create for many, many years to come!
