I think he should use Creep by Radiohead:
Can anyone come up with a better suggestion?
Haaa Nemui
That’s a good suggestion... but Radiohead probably wouldn’t want to be associated with him either.
Japanoob
@ Ah_so
Good choice. But it's also such a good song it would be ruined by association ;-)
I'd go for Hurt (Johnny Cash cover). Chorus and 1st couple of lines of 2nd verse are so apt....
Ah_so
Good choice:
HBJ
'Lump' - The Presidents of the United States of America.
And 'Lump' can be replaced with 'Trump' in the song to great effect!
Michael Machida
Trump should write his own songs. I know he would love to write a song about himself.
yakyak
They said the exact same thing 4 years ago.
Ah_so
American Idiot, obvs
Pukey2
Bad Romance, by Lady Gaga.
Some choice lyrics from the song:
I want your ugly
I want your disease
I want your everything
As long as it’s free
I want your love
I want your horror
I want your design
‘Cuz you’re a criminal
As long as you’re mine
I'M A FREE BTCH BABY*
Pukey2
However, I don't think Gaga likes the man-child, so he probably wouldn't get permission. Anyway.
The Avenger
Trump keeps stealing music. Refuses to stop. I'd like to see a 2 BILLION dollar settlement.
Remember those huge fines people were getting over file sharing? The GOP has exempted themselves. The rule of law does not apply to them.
VOTE BLUE
yakyak
Samurai blue.
Vernon Watts
Good luck with that. Just Google the topic and you will soon see The Rolling Stones are just blowing hot air (through their bad teeth)....
Goodlucktoyou
Jonny Rotten’s “My Way”?
but can kind of understand the choice of The Rolling Stones. White, redneck, middle aged men love them.
geronimo2006
you can't always get what you want
Serrano
you can't always get what you want
Beat me to it, geronimo!
Goodlucktoyou
@bigyen
thanks, my age is catching up.
yakyak
Mick Jagger probably loves Trump...I think Trump rented an apartment to him at his Trump tower when he was living in NY.
Haaa Nemui
Beck’s “I’m a Loser”
starpunk
'Loser' by the Plastiscenes
'Traitor' by Motorhead
'Fascist Groove Thing' by Heaven 13
'World Leader Pretend' by REM
'Criminal' by Fiona Apple
There's plenty of other themes for him, some of them obscene.
Here's a Rolling Stones song for Trumptreason - 'Sweet Neo-Con'.
And here's one from RUSH. 'Big Money', got no soul!!!!!!!!!
viking68
I was thinking the same thing!!
The refrain, why don't you kill me, is a little much though.
The forces of evil in a bozo nightmare
Ban all the music with the phony gas chamber
'Cause one's got a weasel and the other's got a flag
One's on the pole, shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose-job
The daytime crap of the folksinger slob
viking68
Or, Just How Low by Robert Cray
Haaa Nemui
viking68
Yeah I agree, that part is too much. I almost didn’t post it because of that.
bass4funk
I think "I'm still standing" by Elton John or "Never Surrender" by Corey Hart would be better choices.
But we also have:
ABC-Many happy returns
Adam Ant-Stand and deliver
Boo Yaa Tribe-Retaliate
Bootsy Collins-Body Slam
The Brothers Johnson-Stomp!
Bruce Hornsby-The way it is
Chicago-Alive again
The Clash-Clampdown
E-40-Can't stop the boss!
The Who-Won't get fooled again
These are all songs that would without a doubt move his base.
lostrune2
They've been previously sending Trump cease-and-desist notifications, but he didn't stop using their song
The threat of lawsuit is just the last legal resort
bass4funk
But to be fair to Trump, it's not him deciding and taking these songs, it's his campaign staff and they should know better. They can't just use music from another artist without approval and royalty fees, they should have absolutely known better. If I were Trump, someone would get fired.
Jimizo
Just find music made by someone who doesn’t despise the idea of being associated with him.
It certainly narrows the field down incredibly but it’s more decent.
bass4funk
You don't know that, but for the crazy Hollywood liberal moonbats, it does.
Bjorn Tomention
Talking Heads - Burning Down the House
Ah
Watch out, you might get what you're after
Cool, babies! Strange but not a stranger
I'm an ordinary guy
Burning down the house
Hold tight, wait 'til the party's over
Hold tight, we're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house
Here's your ticket, pack your bag, it's time for jumping overboard
The transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, maybe you know where you are
Fighting fire with fire, ah!
All wet, here, you might need a raincoat
Shakedown, dreams walking in broad daylight
Three hundred sixty-five degrees
Burning down the house
It was once upon a place, sometimes I listen to myself
Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work say, “Baby, what did you expect?”
Gonna burst into flame, ah!
Jimizo
The Stones are a British rock band. What have they got to do ‘with crazy Hollywood liberal moonbats’? ‘Sir Mick’ has certainly lost his anti-establishment credentials.
Get Ted Nugent. His songs are crap but he’s a MAGA type.
ulysses
Pence could sing 'Kissing a fool'.

The Stones do not have a legal leg to stand on. The venue pays the music rights, not the event renting the venue. The baseball stadium pays for the music, not the team. Trump is not using the music, the venue is.
If the Stones don't want their music played, they need to take it off the market which means it will not be played on radio stations either.
funkymofo
Draft dodging pedo, yeah sounds about right.

@Kentarogaijin
Sue him for what? The maker of a suit cannot ban a criminal from wearing it in court, the maker of a car cannot sue the bank robber for driving it. The maker of N95 masks cannot stop an abortion doctor from using them.
The only way to stop people you don't like from using your product is to stop selling the product.
Haaa Nemui
@proxy
The key there is the licensing of the product. Without license to use the product it’s theft. A criminal wearing a suit in court can’t be stopped from wearing the suit if they’ve legally purchased it but can be done for it if the the suit is stolen.
Strangerland
Ok, none of these have any relevance to IP laws. Why are you bringing up useless information that is entirely irrelevant to the conversation? Are you going to start telling us what you ate for lunch next?
Or, maybe we could keep it on topic instead.
mikeylikesit
Those examples are not entirely irrelevant. Virtually every music act in the world signs with a label, and they agree to various licensing & distribution deals by doing so. Any group, including political campaigns, can pay a licensing fee to use any song from a large catalog at a public event. The Rolling Stones, like any other act, is in that catalog. They don't retain exclusive control over when and where their songs are played.
For decades, this political posturing has played like a broken record. Such-and-such artist complains about such-and-such politician playing a song at rallies. The act blusters about it in the media with threats of lawyers. In the end, everybody knows that a lawsuit to prevent use of the song stands zero chance of success. The Stones, like other musicians before them, are milking the publicity. They get their names in the news. They get to distance themselves from a politician they don't like, and that they presume their fans don't like. They effectively make a free campaign donation against that candidate through the negative publicity. They know the campaign won't roll over and give up the right to play the song, but the longer the band can make a stink about it, the more they think it will hurt the candidate and help the band.
There's no evidence that this is politically effective--it didn't stop Bush from being reelected, and it didn't stop Trump from being elected--but it repeats without fail every presidential election cycle.
wtfjapan
These are all songs that would without a doubt move his base.
best theme song for Trump:
*Im an a*hole: Denis Leary
bass4funk
They associate with them a lot, so by default.
Is that significant?
Yeah and liberals get James Taylor, yaaawn....lol
wtfjapan
Or another for Trumps handling of the pandemic
let the bodies hit the floor: Drowning Pool
wtfjapan
He’ll get a warning, but becoming a convicted individual....impossible.
he already been convicted and fined for charity fraud/theft
Wolfpack
Trump should keep using it. The Supreme Court legalized illegal immigration. The Stones don't stand a chance in court.
proxy
@Strangerland Trump is not using their music, the venue is. The stones have licensed their music through ASCAP or other and the venue pays ASCAP. If the Stones want to pick who can use their music they needed to have had that in their agreement to whoever they sold their music license to. The Stones are getting paid. It is all above board. The maker of a suit does have IP. It is very similar. The IP holder of the suit design could certainly require anyone purchasing their suit sign a form saying that they will not wear it in a court.
Most buildings have IP. You cannot take a photo of the Eiffel Tower or Tokyo tower and sell it without a lisence. But if the owners of the Eiffelt tower sell a license of an image to be used on t-shirts, they have no recourse if a stripper buys a licensed t-shirt and uses it as part of her show. The only option the owner of the Eiffel tower IP has is to stop selling licenses or when they do, include a clause that the maker of the t-shirts has everyone buying a t-shirt to agree not to use it in a strip show.

@Haaa Nemui
The venue does have a license and the Rolling Stones are actually getting paid.
bass4funk
And acquitted twice.
No, I’m not wrong, been part of Hollywood and still do business with them, of course the Stones are deeply connected to the liberal Hollywood insider machine, always have been since they’ve been in the US and music scene.
nishikat
Me too and I am the official agent for Tom Cruise
Jimizo
An explanation of the Stones being ‘deeply connected to the liberal Hollywood insider machine’ would be useful.
Which ‘liberal moonbats’ do the Stones associate with?
bass4funk
Their largest fan base is in the US, they own property in the US, they deal with businesses in the US, their kids, the list goes on and on, of course they’re deeply entrenched with.
Take your pick.
bass4funk
I actually do.
I wasn’t just talking about Watts.
As well as doing a lot of side business dealings and investments in the States.
As well as having homes in the US where he also spends a lot of time in.
That’s not true.
Not speculation.
Jimizo
Nothing about the liberal Hollywood machine here.
Tell us about how they are involved in politics.
I don’t know who qualifies as a ‘liberal moonbat’. Tell me what that means and give me some names.
Bass, you do realize you have offered absolutely nothing concrete in support of your assertions here, don’t you?
starpunk
'Spreading the Disease' by Queensryche
'Little Tin God' by Don Henley
'Cruel' by Bryan Ferry
'Man With No Soul' by Lucinda Williams (it truly IS about him!)
'Pigs' by Pink Floyd
'Sick Boy' by Social Distortion
'Mothers of the Disappeared' by U2 (for all the ethnic kids he snatched and caged)
cleo
Indeed.
I see. That could describe a lot of people.
largest (only?) fan base is in the US -Trump - check
owns property in the US -Trump - check
deals with businesses in the US -Trump - check
kids -Trump - check
Trump is deeply connected to the liberal Hollywood insider machine??
Really??

That still doesn't mean the campaign has the right to use the music.

Slickdrifter
Music has always been present in or at American political rally's, political events. Since the birth of politics.
It is an interesting topic to study.
I remember talking to a guy once that went to Woodstock the whole things political he said. I asked him what did he take away from Woodstock? He said and understanding of capitalism and electric Kool-Aid laced with LSD.
ln mild protest here if I may. Jagger and Stones have been around forever. Allot of the music older than the hills and twice as dusty. It should have n expiration date on it.
Brian May of Queen has asked the President to stop using Queen songs. Host of others. Neil Young. Go home and cry to Mama! Remember William Jefferson (Slick Willy) Clinton used Fleetwood Macs track. Don't stop. Obama used a few too. Its music. Its put out there and meant to be shared. I think for Mick this is a means to stay revilement possibly? I never listened to the Stones. Not my vibe. Lets not forget Bill Clinton took a 1977 hit song that peaked at number three on the Billboard charts and repurposed it as his own, going so far as to convince the long-disbanded Fleetwood Mac to reunite for a special performance at his 1993 inaugural ball. Which is cool. Don't Stop proved to be such a malleable theme song that Clinton still uses it regularly; he plays it at fundraisers and speeches, he name-checked it at the 2000 Democratic National Convention and this year in Denver, he walked on stage to the track in 2020. You know what. Who cares. The world is to sensitive.
Are you not entertained? Gladiator!
Pretty soon were all going to be living in bubbles/pods like the Matrix. Where me make our own reality and own little world. Its coming!

The Clintons named their daughter Chelsea after 'Chelsea Morning', a piece of Muzak. And Tipper Gore digs that FMac so much. She's the loudmouth that tried to censor and ban music she don't like and is too stupid to understand - she lipped off about Prince, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Rush, Def Leppard, even John Denver. She initiated Congressional hearings over music and lyrics. Started the PMRC.
The Clintons and the Gores have a taste for uninspired pop pap and Muzak - that's why they used it for their rallies. And they still use 'Don't Stop' now. Not my vibe.
