Interested in seeing this film. Koreeda is a great director so I hope the language barrier didn't diminish any of his ability.

I highly recommend everyone check out one of his earlier less known films After Life. A beautiful film that blends fiction and documentary.

Totally endorse that recommendation. Hit me like a ton of bricks when I saw it. Another early Koreeda worth checking out is Maborosi, also a subtle and beautiful film packing a lot of emotional impact.

This new movie doesn't seem like it's in the same class as the two films mentioned, or the brilliant Shoplifters. Might have been a bit of a personal project for Koreeda, wanting to work with La Belle Catherine and with Ethan Hawke. But it's Koreeda, so worth a look, for sure.

YES!! This is one of my favorite films of all time. Saw it on a whim and could not stop thinking about it afterwards.
